Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
This marinade makes a really good tasting pork tenderloin. I also baked the meat in a 375 degree oven, but I marinated it in a disposable bag,and dumped everything in the baking dish. I didn't do the stove top reheat step of the marinade, and the meat turned out moist, flavorful and perfect. I baked it for about 30 minutes covered, and about 20 mintues uncovered, then I let it rest for a few minutes, covered. My family loved it. Its a keeper :)

One Minute Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I set out to make Texas sheet cake for my Mom's birthday, and the morning of baking the cake,I realized I didn't have any powdered sugar, which is what most of the icing recipes for the cake call for,so...I went on a mad search for a recipe that was quick, and didn't require powdered sugar. This recipe fit the bill for me,with a few exceptions. 1st off, most the the reviewers said it firmed up rather quickly,so I did pour the icing on my WARM cake, pretty much right from the oven. It spread beautiful and was easy to work with. It firmed up in a short time, and it turned out great. With that said,my sheet cake was quite large, its made in a 15" jelly roll pan; so I doubled the recipe. If you need to do that,DO NOT double the sugar amount. Way too sweet. It was edible, but a bit crunchy, due to all the sugar. The chocolate flavor was good, consistancy good, amount was good, just don't add too much sugar. Thanks for a great recipe! :)

Cranberry Salad VI

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
I didn't care much for this cranberry salad. The taste was overwhelmingly cream cheese. I do like cream cheese,I just don't want to eat it alone, which is basically what it seemed like. The cranberry taste seemed to get lost in this recipe. My daughter enjoyed it,but I just didn't think much of it. I won't be making it again:(

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
Excellent recipe...my husband said he rated it 100 stars:) I, like some of the other reviewers put the sauce on top of the meatloaf and I also added about 1 T of BBQ sauce, and the flavor was great. Next time instead of baking it in a baking dish,I'll use a rack to get the meat up out of the grease and juices. A great recipe to keep and make over and over.

Miracle Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This is very good lasagna. Its quick to put together, and my family devoured it. I used no cook lasagna noodles, and added egg to the ricotta cheese to hold it together a little more, and it turned out well. Also,I added some seasonings to the ricotta cheese mixture. Its not restaurant quality lasagna, but for a week night supper,it suits me fine :)

Delicious and easy. I was out of french fried onions, but I've since bought some,so I'm anxious to try it again with them on top:) Great, dependable recipe when time is short and hunger is NOW :)

President Ford's Braised Eye Round Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
As the recipe states, this meat WAS fork tender, and I would make it again, but I didn't have any beef consomme so I used beef bouillon instead, and added a little worchester to the wine sauce. It was VERY VERY salty,so in the future I would completely cut out the season salt, and just stick with pepper and maybe a few shakes of garlic powder to give it a little kick of flavor. The end result was very tender and the sauce was good, just too salty.

Quick and Easy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
Wow was this good; if my family wasn't at the table with me,I was tempted to eat the whole pan full of chicken! While it was simmering it smelled really ketchup-y,but hang in there, because the end result is yummy. I took the advice of other reviewers and doubled the sauce recipe, added some garlic powder and a little red wine, and let it simmer about 45 minutes and the chicken was as moist and tender as you could ask for. I made rice along with the chicken, and the sauce was very good on top of it. I will definetly make this again! Thanks for such a wonderful and easy recipe! :) *****Update*** I tried this with boneless Pork Chops and it's just as YUMMY!

Easy Chicken Breast

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
I thought this was really a tasty and easy dish. For some odd reason,I didn't have Cr.of anything soup in my pantry, which never happens, but I did have a can of turkey gravy,so I mixed that with the sour cream and wine. Like the other reviewers,I added some seasonings like garlic powder and salt and pepper. I also browned the chicken on the stove top before I baked it,just to brown it. I have this thing about eating white chicken from the oven,in a sauce like that it never browns up too well. I added fresh mushrooms and it all tasted pretty good. I think I'll experiment with the soup types when making this again. Also,I took the advice of another reviewer who only used one can and it was plenty to cover the chicken, and spoon some over as a sauce before serving. Thanks for a great recipe...I'll make this again:)

Beer Lime Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
Sorry, but this taste combo just didn't work for me or my family. The beer gave it a weird "off",almost sour taste, combined with the chicken and cilantro. I do cook with beer and it always brings the flavor of the food out with it,but not this time. I also love cilantro, but added all together somehow just didn't work out.I won't make it again...sorry.

Pumpkin Pie Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
This recipe is a keeper. I served it Christmas Eve and everyone raved about it. It's easy to make and has a very good crust. I had to bake it about 10 minutes longer than the recipe called for,but just keep on eye on it. When it stops jiggling, its done:)

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
My husband would like me to give this a 10! It was really very good, and moist. I seasoned the chicken with the taco seasonsing and then marinated it in the salsa in a plastic zip bag for about 1 hr. I added the sour cream on top before serving and that really did make it yummy! A good addition would be black olives(if you like them) and maybe some cilantro. Thanks for a great recipe!

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
This is a great pork chop recipe. I always get discouraged when I have to do breading in a recipe, even though the end result is always very good, its just messy and time consuming to me...however,this was not,and the end result was wonderful. Thanks to the other reviewers I had a heads up on the whole stuffing falling off the pork chops issue,so I just put the stuffing in a plastic bag,and crushed the bigger pieces down until they were like bread crumbs. You still get the great flavor of the stuffing, but its finer like bread crumbs. Make sure the butter is spread evenly in the pan before putting the chops in,so sticking doesn't occur. And DO NOT overbake. I used thin boneless chops and 20 minutes total definetly is a good number to go by for bake time. Even my extremely picky son went back for 2nds! Thanks for a great recipe!!!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
This is one great baked chicken recipe! I've been making a variation of this recipe for years, but my old recipe just got replaced by this one:) The sauce was very easy to make...I substituted brown sugar for the white sugar, added a little shot of Teriyaki just bacause I had some, and a few sprinkles of chili powder.I,like some of the other reviewers, did not baste every 10 minutes as the recipe called for. I just covered it and put it in the oven.I baked the thighs @ 375 for 1 hour and they were moist and wonderful.Towards the end, I uncovered the dish, and I did baste it once. I think this sauce would taste great with pork, too. I'll have to try that:)

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2007
I would give this recipe 5 stars, except for the fact that,as another reviewer had mentioned,it is kind of time consuming to prepare. The chops were very tasty and tender, and very moist, but if I make them again I will plan more time for prep. Overall,a good recipe, just a little time consuming for a week night supper.

New Orleans Barbequed Shrimp

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
Not as good as I had hoped. Family thought it was ok...don't think I'll be making it again. The flavor was pretty good, but the shrimp didn't really pick up the seasonings that well. Just ok.

Chicken Hurry

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
I used cut up chicken with the skin on. It did not get crispy at all, after about 1 1/2 hrs in the oven, without any foil. As the other reviewers had suggested, use boneless, skinless breasts for this dish. I'm not a chicken skin eater,so the sauce was pretty much lost on this dish. The sauce was tasty, however,so I will most likely make it again. I added BBQ sauce and black pepper and some garlic powder.I also added more water than what was called for in the recipe, because the sauce just seemed too thick, and I wanted it to cover all the chicken. Overall good, just use the skinless chicken.

Leslie's Salty Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
Wow did these make a huge hit at a recent family cookout! Even the kids wanted 2nd's! I made 25 of these on a large grate over a campfire. I bought some pkg'd seasoning for potatoes in the produce isle, buttered each foil piece, sprinkled about 1/4 t seasoning and a sprinkle of coarse salt, rolled each potato in it,and wrapped it. They were all ready in about 1 hr,to 1 hr 10 min. All the potatoes were pretty even in size.I will be making these again! Thanks :)

Overnight Bubble Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
Oh my,this is sooo good. I doubled up the sauce as other reviewers had mentioned, and it was just fantastic.I actually reversed the schedule of this bread...I did it in the morning to bake right before supper. But I figured overnight is considered about 8 hrs,so I let it sit covered for about 7-8 hrs,and those babies were sky high and ready to bake by suppertime. I can't wait until breakfast tomorrow when I can have some with my coffee :) Thanks for a great, easy recipe!!!
