Garlic Mashed Potatoes In The Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2013
Perfect for Thanksgiving. I used yellow potatoes instead of red,and I should not have. Next time I will use the red, or a firmer potato. They came out a little runny because they just weren't firm enough.Overall the dish was really good and a huge stress reliever because I didn't have to boil/mash the potatoes and try to get the turkey out all at the same time. I will make them again for next Thanksgiving.

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2013
I used a 9 1/2# spiral honey ham. I put a little brown sugar on the bottom of the crock pot and put the ham in cut side down. I didn't add any liquid. I then put some more brown sugar over the top. I used the low 8 hr setting. After 3 1/2 hours I switched it up to 4 hr high setting. I put the glaze on that came with the ham, and let it go for about a 1/2 hour. I have a large size crock pot so I didn't have to use foil or anything; it fit in perfectly. The end result was a delicious ham that I would make again in a heartbeat. Great flavor, moist. And best of all stress free! :-)

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
Excellent! I've made this twice in one week it was THAT good. The 1st time I made it on the grill;be sure to keep a close eye on the bread or it will burn quickly. The 2nd time I made it on the stove top,and it made a wonderful sandwich. Thanks for a great recipe!

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
Excellent salad! I took this salad to Easter dinner as my contribution to the meal, and it was a big hit. The dressing was so easy to make-I used Raspberry Champagne vinegar. It gave the dressing a gorgeous red color and the sugar in the dressing really brought out the sweetness in the strawberries. I didn't used the poppy seeds, but instead used sliced almonds, which added crunch and texture. Also, I used 1/2 baby salad greens and 1/2 spinach.I've already made a 2nd batch of the dressing for my family to eat here at home, and its just great. I plan to make this again and again. Thanks for a wonderful, easy and colorful salad thats also good for you! :)

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
Very good recipe. I did marinate in the red wine and worchestshire and garlic for a while before browning and that gave the meat wonderful flavor and good texture. I omitted the onion and white wine at the end, since I had used red wine for the marinating. My only issue that I had was adding the flour to the juices. It was probably an error on my part, but it didn't turn out well. I simmered it for about 1 1/2 hrs and it had a decent gravy, but there were still flour-y lumps in it. Again, probably something I did wrong but it didn't work for me. Overall the taste was great and I would make it again, but I would use Wondra flour and mix separtely before adding to the juices. Thanks for a great recipe!

Shoyu Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
Great flavor, great combination of seasonings. I was a little unsure of the oregano, but used it anyhow. I baked the thighs in the oven instead of grilling and while they were baking, the oregano made the whole kitchen smell like pizza :) I will try this on the grill next time. Very good.

This super simple side dish was very good. My husband and I both liked it. Even as leftovers, the rice was still moist and delicious. This is a keeper!

French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
Very good sandwich; I didn't have time to slow cook so I did this in the oven for about 3 hrs @ 325,took out the meat, shredded it,placed it on buns and topped them with baby Swiss cheese.I popped the sandwiches back in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese started to get soft. I served the au jus for dipping. My family loved it!

Easy Spicy Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
Very good! The chili powder gives it a kick. I mixed all ingredients except cheese in a plastic zip lock bag to mix throughly before putting them in a pan. My husband loved them, and I'll be making them again,I'm sure. Thanks!

Shrimp Scampi V

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
This was a good recipe; I,like other reviewers,"punched it up" a little with some Old Bay and basil, but the flavor still wasn't really outstanding. The sauce was pretty thin near the end,so I added some Wondra flour mixed with water into the sauce, and it thickened up nicely. A good recipe, but don't expect wonderful flavor, other than the taste of the shrimp. I would make it again, but I need to ponder what ingredients would really make it tasty.

Brandied Shrimp with Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
This is a very good recipe. I didn't give it 5 stars because the sauce was not enough for the amount of pasta called for,in my opinion. Next time I will increase liquid amounts and see if I get a little better result. I just came back from the grocery store with a new supply of shrimp,so we'll try it again! :)

Glorified Hash Browns

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
Wow,these were good, and the guests at my party couldn't get enough of them. Easy to prepare, also. I made enough to serve about 25 people, using a large foil pan. I used 2 1/2 bags hash browns, and 4 cans and 4 containers of cream cheese. Bake for about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs for that large of a quantity. Delicious! ;)

Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
Wonderful baked bean recipe. I made them in a large foil pan, enough to serve about 25 people at my son's graduation party. They were a hit. I played around with the type of beans I used; Great Northern, pinto and regular baked beans and the results were great. FYI - its always hard to judge how much to make, and to double everything or not. I used 2 cans each of the beans(regular beans I used the large size) and I did have leftovers. Also, bake for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for them to get nice and hot. I have another party this weekend, and I'm making these again :) Thanks for a great recipe.

Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
This marinade makes a really good tasting pork tenderloin. I also baked the meat in a 375 degree oven, but I marinated it in a disposable bag,and dumped everything in the baking dish. I didn't do the stove top reheat step of the marinade, and the meat turned out moist, flavorful and perfect. I baked it for about 30 minutes covered, and about 20 mintues uncovered, then I let it rest for a few minutes, covered. My family loved it. Its a keeper :)

One Minute Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I set out to make Texas sheet cake for my Mom's birthday, and the morning of baking the cake,I realized I didn't have any powdered sugar, which is what most of the icing recipes for the cake call for,so...I went on a mad search for a recipe that was quick, and didn't require powdered sugar. This recipe fit the bill for me,with a few exceptions. 1st off, most the the reviewers said it firmed up rather quickly,so I did pour the icing on my WARM cake, pretty much right from the oven. It spread beautiful and was easy to work with. It firmed up in a short time, and it turned out great. With that said,my sheet cake was quite large, its made in a 15" jelly roll pan; so I doubled the recipe. If you need to do that,DO NOT double the sugar amount. Way too sweet. It was edible, but a bit crunchy, due to all the sugar. The chocolate flavor was good, consistancy good, amount was good, just don't add too much sugar. Thanks for a great recipe! :)

Cranberry Salad VI

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
I didn't care much for this cranberry salad. The taste was overwhelmingly cream cheese. I do like cream cheese,I just don't want to eat it alone, which is basically what it seemed like. The cranberry taste seemed to get lost in this recipe. My daughter enjoyed it,but I just didn't think much of it. I won't be making it again:(

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
Excellent recipe...my husband said he rated it 100 stars:) I, like some of the other reviewers put the sauce on top of the meatloaf and I also added about 1 T of BBQ sauce, and the flavor was great. Next time instead of baking it in a baking dish,I'll use a rack to get the meat up out of the grease and juices. A great recipe to keep and make over and over.

Miracle Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This is very good lasagna. Its quick to put together, and my family devoured it. I used no cook lasagna noodles, and added egg to the ricotta cheese to hold it together a little more, and it turned out well. Also,I added some seasonings to the ricotta cheese mixture. Its not restaurant quality lasagna, but for a week night supper,it suits me fine :)
