About this Cook
I'm a Mom who likes to cook for her family, and others.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook involve camping type foods. I enjoy planning what to bring along on trips, and making sure everyone is well fed.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have any family cooking traditions, other than the standard Thanksgiving meal that has pretty much the same traditional food every year.
My cooking triumphs
I gave a baby shower for my friend, and the guest list kept growing and growing every week. I managed to serve the food on time, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was my largest meal I had ever served.
My cooking tragedies
When I was a young newly married wife I had my husbands family over for dinner. I didn't prepare any of it ahead, and ended up breading chicken and browing it and baking it with them standing there. Everyone kept asking when we were going to eat, because it took forever to make it. I still cringe when I think about it. I now make as much as I can in advance, and try to make things that are less complicated :)

Anniversary Chicken I
Oh my goodness is this delicious! I happened to have all the ingredients on hand except the teriyaki. I substituted soy sauce instead and what a great contrast to the creamy ranch dressing. Great combination of ingredients. My husband announced as he was taking his last bite of 2nds, " make this again!" And I will! Thanks for a great recipe :-)

Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes
Wonderful! These were great! I was planning a 4 pm dinner time, so I started preparing these about 1 pm. I put them in the crock pot @ 2 pm and stirred them once or twice and by 4 pm when it was time to eat (Thanksgiving Dinner) they were fabulous! The consistency was great, not runny or hard. Even left overs the next day were good. If you're reheating them after they've been cold, and they are hard, just add some milk. They're perfect every time! :-)
