Sweet Mustard Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
GREAT marinade! I made it exactly as the recipe states but next time I may use dijon mustard or half dijon, half regular to give it a little kick. But it is fabulous as is.

Juiciest Hamburgers Ever

Reviewed: May 9, 2011
I rarely make burgers b/c they always turn out like crud. Not these though! They were perfect. Very juicy and flavorful. I used half and half instead of evaporated milk b/c that's what I had.

'Chinese Buffet' Green Beans

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
These are yummy! The first time I made them I didn't have oyster sauce so they were really lacking. This time I made them with the oyster sauce and they were spot on.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
Good, I subbed craisins for raisins and did 1/4 c. veg oil and 1/4 c. applesauce and used ground flax in place of wheat germ. All in all very good and all the kids agreed! Edit: I have made these at least 5 times now. I've added chocolate chips, but honestly prefer them without. I also use wheat flour in place of white. And with reading other reviews, I found that if you don't press them to the edges of the pan, instead leave about a 1/2 inch border all around, they turn out much better.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
Wow...this is so easy and so tasty! I may use 1/2 sour cream 1/2 mayo next time. I added a 4 oz. can of jalapenos and thought that was perfect...just enough heat. I baked in the oven and did the fresh parmesan/bread crumb mixture on top.

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
Phenomenal! Love the marinade and the blue cheese butter is just perfect...not too strong in blue cheese flavor, just right. I used balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar and marinated for about 5 hours. We had to cook inside b/c of weather but next time will definitely grill. Oh and I used NY Strip steaks cause that's what I had on hand. Will absolutely be making these again and again!

Italian Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
These are great, only thing I changed was to use seasoned bread crumbs in place of the crackers b/c I didn't have crackers. Served with asparagus w/ balsamic butter sauce and Cabernet....YUM!

Garlic-Herb Roast Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
I made this with a pork tenderloin and it was delicious. I actually marinated the pork in this mixture (used dried herbs) for about 4 hours. This baking method produced the juiciest pork ever! I had to cook it at 300 degrees for about 35 minutes to get it up to 150.

Green Bean Fries

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
A delicious game day snack or dinner appetizer. What ever you do don't forget to coat them w/ flour first. I forgot this step and my first batch came out of the oil with barely any coating stuck to them. I served these with a mayo/sour cream/horseradish dip from the "fried chicken tenders" recipe on this site. Yum-o!

Mom's Sweet Potato Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
This is my mom's recipe pretty much to a "T". Everyone loves it and always raves about it. Like most everyone else, we cut down on the sugar.

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
Great marinade! I substituted pesto in place of the basil cause it's what I had on hand and marinated steak for about 7 hours.

Cherry Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
These are great. I didn't add the cherries simply b/c I didn't have them on hand. I will add them next time though. I also made a dipping sauce out of soy sauce, water, lemon juice, garlic & ginger. Hubby and I both liked them better dipping them in the sauce but they were still good without! 4/12/11 Finally made this w/ dried cherries and they are SO good. The tartness of the cherries goes great w/ the saltiness of the sauce. Mmmmm, definitely better than craisins!

Surprise Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
I had doubts about these but they turned out awesome! I used ground flax in place of the wheat germ and a little bit of applesauce in place of some of the butter. I used orange marmalade for the filling but I think some sort of berry would be even better, like strawberry or raspberry. This only made 10 muffins for me.

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
This is an excellent quiche! The only thing I changed was I used about half the amount of sour cream called for simply because it's all I had on hand. It still turned out excellent. I think I will try to make this "crustless" next time to cut down on carbs though.

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
I was a little nervous about using a brine just because I nor anyone in my family had ever tried a brine. Let me tell you, I will never make a turkey again without using a brine!!! Wow, this turkey was phenomenal! I let it sit in the brine in a clean bucket in the garage (the temp was in the 30's here) for 36 hours. The white meat on the turkey was so incredibly moist and flavorful I can't even explain how good it was. It turned out better than I ever imagined! I used Alton Brown's method of cooking (cook at 500 for the first 30 minutes and then turn down to 350 for the rest of the time). I will even try using this brine for roasted chicken as well. Thank you so much for submitting this recipe, I honestly can't believe more people don't do turkeys this way. It really isn't hard at all.

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2011
An absolutely fantastic beer batter recipe! I had so much batter leftover that I made beer battered onion rings, broccoli and mushrooms. Fantastic! Used a light beer because that's all we had on hand, next time would prefer to try with a dark beer.

Baked Zucchini

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Yummy Yummy! I changed up a couple things as follows. I scooped out the inside of the zucchini and sauteed with some onion and the garlic that is called for. I then mixed all that in with the sour cream/cream cheese/parm mixture. I also added a bit of ricotta cheese b/c I didn't have enough sour cream. I didn't bother do precook the zucchini at all either, I just cut them in half, scooped out, made the filling and then cooked them for about 7 minutes longer than the recipe calls for. These were outstanding and could easily be a meal in themselves with the addition of some ground meat which I'm definitely trying next time!

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I make whole wheat pancakes for my 1 year old and freeze them for a quick breakfast. Last time I made them I used store bought whole wheat "blend" mix and the pancakes were alright. Well this time I wanted to make them from scratch so I found this recipe. Wow! I will NEVER buy a store bought mix again. These are soooo much better and easy! I added some applesauce and a few mashed strawberries as well as the blueberries to the mix as well as I like to pack them with as much fruit as I can since they are for my daughter. I had to try one to make sure they were ok and I'm having a hard time not going back for another one! I will be using this recipe from here on out. Oh and I used a couple teaspoons of brown sugar rather than artificial sweetner...again since they are for my 1 year old.

That Good Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
The first couple bites of this salad didn't wow me. But as I kept eating it and getting all the ingredients mixed together, it got better and better and I ended up loving it! Hubby loved it right away! I love the lightness and simplicity of the dressing.
