Dad's Excellent Scallops

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
These were excellent and really easy to make. Forgot to soak the toothpicks so the ends burned to a crisp on the grill but other than that, everything was perfect. I served them with horseradish sauce kind of following the idea of shrimp lejon and it was surprisingly good!

Citrus Tilapia

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
We've had this twice in the past week and a half! I can't believe how easy and fast it is, 15 minutes start to finish, can't beat that!

Cheeseburger Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2006
My husband and I love this recipe! I tweek it everytime I make it. I currently fry up about 1/2 an onion and some bacon and mix that in with the meat. I also put a ketchup/mustard mixture on top before going in the oven. I wasn't a big fan of meatloaf before I found this recipe, now I make it once every couple of weeks!

Summer Beer II

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2006
I was skeptical about mixing the beer and vodka, but read the reviews and decided I had to try this. Made a double batch for our memorial day picnic and it was gone in the first hour! Will definitely keep this on hand for a quick summer time drink!

Crispy Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2006
Wow...can you say easy? I have never been a good baker but am trying new things and this turned out great! I added a little bit more sugar and used honey bunches of oats because it was the only cereal we had. Yum!

Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2006
The taste of this was excellent however mine didn't really turn out in "bars" it was more like rhubarb mush. But nonetheless tasted great! Will probably just need to leave in the oven a little bit longer next time.

Hoagie Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2006
All my co-workers request this every time we have a food day at work. Inevitably someone always asks me for the recipe, this is beyond excellent! I sometimes throw in a little bit of vinegar for a little kick, but not too much or it will get runny.

This was really good and soooo easy. A little bit on the sweet side, but good, will definitely make this again.

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2006
This is the only marinade I use for our steaks. We absolutely love it. Our steaks taste better than most restaurants!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2006
This was way better than I thought it would be, we really enjoyed it. I didn't care for the steak sauce in the honey mustard however. I made one with and one without it.

Honey Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
Didn't like this as much as I would have liked to. Like another reader said, it had a little unexpected kick and I only used half the pepper the recipe called for. My husband enjoyed them more than me though so I didn't feel like it was a total waste since I didn't care for them.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
Yummmmm!!! Definitely a guilty pleasure but well worth it. I made a double batch of these to take to work and there were only a few leftover. Everyone raved about them. I don't think they are difficult or time consuming at all. I used kitchen shears to cut 3 slices of bacon at one time (definitely put the bacon in the freezer in between cuts). I just had a little assembly line going and before I knew it they were done! Will definitely make these again and again for parties at our house. And they smell sooo good in the crock pot (I have a "keep warm" setting on my crock pot which was perfect for these).

Southern Grilled Barbecued Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
These were really good, however they were just a tad bit dried out. Next time I probably won't leave them in the oven quite as long and will probably leave the lid up on the grill while they are cooking. But all in all very good, we will definitely be making these again!

New England Clam Chowder II

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2006
This wasn't as thick as we would have liked it to be. And I also agree with some of the other reviews that the potatoes were overwhelming and it almost tasted like potato soup. I think I would try this recipe again but tweek it by not using as many potatoes and increasing the flour content and probably throwing in the clam juice from the canned clams for extra flavor.

Slow Cooker Chicken Continental

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2006
I did not like this at all, my husband thought it was ok. I am pretty sure I left it in the slow cooker too long, but with my work schedule I don't really have any other choice. The chicken was soooo dry and the sauce was separated and just over all not good at all. I may try this again on a weekend when I can be home to cook it in a much shorter amount of time. I really think since it got such great reviews that it must have been something I did wrong...if I try again, I may come back and change my rating!

Almond-Crusted Halibut Crystal Symphony

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2006
I expected this to be a lot harder than it really was, but it wasn't that bad at all. It keeps you busy though! I took the advice of others and made sure all the ingredients were layed out ahead of time in order and ready to go. The end product was spectacular!! My husband said it was comparable to any fancy restaurant we'd ever been to! This will definitely become a staple in our house. Oh yeah and I substitued macadamia's instead of almonds which I don't really care for. I thought it was better this way, but I'm sure it's just personal preference.

Soda Pop Strawberry Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
I was so nervous this wasn't going to work because of some of the other reviews, but it came out perfect! Follow the directions on the box of cake exactly! If you overbeat or underbeat angel food cake it will fall and be sure to cool it upside down. The only thing I might change is to try a different icing next time, it was a little too much for me, but my husband loved it. I liked the cake just by itself.
