About this Cook
I have a six year old son and try to make things that he will like. He is not hard to please usually but he his days, lol. Can you believe he doesn't like potatoes?! I get tips from my cousin who is an excellent (southern) cook. I had to text her for directions on gravy! But she is really my inspiration to cook. My mother didn't cook all that much.
My favorite things to cook
Mexican food and southern food. I like trying new things as well. And we love to cook steak!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every time I visit with my distant cousins, we ALWAYS cook. Boiled peanuts are a must have, potatoes, cole slaw, baked beans, etc. And occasionally the family recipe Butter Cream Cake, but it takes FOREVER to make!
My cooking tragedies
I cooked for a date once, tilapia, and after serving him he informed me that it was not done! How embarrassing!

Onion Chicken in Balsamic Sauce
This recipe was okay. The chicken was juicy but no very flavorful. I ended up eating the onions from the sauce and no very much chicken. I enjoyed the sauce very much as did my husband, so I may have to find a way to use it in other recipes.

Ham Tetrazzini
Mmmm. Added peas and a dash of cheyanne pepper. Also added white wine and italian seasoning. Sooooo yummy! I found I only needed about 3/4 cup of ham. I didn't have parsley or pimento.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue
Turned out great! I didn't have worcestershire sauce so I used 1 tablespoon of a1 and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. I also added 1 tsp of liquid smoke.
