Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
I made this as written and was totally turned off by the whole onion rings. Since then I have made these creamy potatoes many times, just substituting chopped onions for the whole. You can change the flavor by using different cheeses.

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
Using the crock pot for my corned beef and cabbage makes it a meal we now enjoy once a month or so. It couldn't be easier just as written. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
How can anything this simple be so good? Served it for a family meal with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli with cheese sauce, even the kids came back for seconds on the meat. This will be my new "go to" recipe for roast beef from now on. Thanks!

Florentine Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2014
I made up this dip and said "holy cow, how am I going to use up this much dip?". so after serving a small bowl of it to guests I decided to use the rest as the cheese filling in my regular lasagna recipe. It was out of this world - everyone loved it!

This has become one of our favorite ways to cook shrimp on the barbie. Lots of flavor and easy to prepare. Thanks.

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
Couldn't be any easier! I like to put them on the grill for a few minutes before serving. Collect the cooking juices and barbecue sauce from the foil and heat to thicken and serve with the ribs.

Sufferin' Succotash Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
Prepared this for dinner tonight with pulled pork barbeque sandwiches - it was amazing after 3 hours of sitting in the marinade - can't wait to see what it's like by tomorrow night at dinner. Thanks, Chef John!

My hubby has been asking for corn chowder for awhile so I made it last night - followed the recipe exactly and it was out of this world!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2013
My bone-in turkey breast turned out succulent and juicy - lots of liquid to make gravy too. For my husband and myself, I will never do a big bird in the oven again!

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
This is an old stand-by recipe that I have prepared for my family for years. I use 2 packages the Buddig beef, double the cream sauce and add just a dash of both onion powder and garlic powder, along with salt and pepper to taste before I chop and add the beef and serve over toast. With these changes, I'd give this recipe five stars. A quick and easy meal!

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2014
This was really good. I served it as a side to Aunt Ro's beans from this site and it was just what the meal needed to keep it crisp and fresh tasting.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2014
These ribs were fall off the bone and so flavorful that my hubby said, these were the best ever. I only had 2# of baby back ribs so I cut the recipe for the sauce in half. My only change was to reverse the amount of ketchup with chili. I cooked all day on low and they were so good!

Lamb and Rice Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2014
Could if I could give this recipe a full 10 stars! It was just the best stuffed cabbage rolls we have eaten - my only change was to use diced tomatoes instead of sauce. I have it on the menu now for a once a month rotation. Thanks for the great recipe, Chef John.

Mom's Favorite Baked Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2014
This recipe is very similar to the one I grew up with and have been trying to replicate for many years. My husband couldn't stop making yummy noises while he ate it. Would give it 10 stars if I could. Because we love onion, I did alter the recipe slightly by adding more onion - either way, it's a winner!

Grilled Onions

All I can say is WONDERFUL! I never cared for the baked onions that my husband liked (no real flavor) but these babies are just like eating a bowl of yummy French onion soup. Will be making these many times.

Salmon Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2014
As others, I added a bit of chopped celery and onion for a bit of crunch. This works for either a loaf or in patty form. Easy and good!

I served these to guests and they were a big hit. I made 12 large one and there were 3 of us - I ate 3, my 2 friends split the rest. Will definitely make again.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
I love this recipe - it will be my go to for family get together's this winter. I don't usually tweak a recipe on my first try but I had some left over collard greens and they went beautifully into the potato, ham and cheese casserole.
