I've been baking for years, but I never really learned to "cook" and now that I'm in a long-term relationship, I think it's time that I start cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Any baked good!! I love making pies and cookies and I'm not too scared to experiment with baking... but I am when it comes to actually cooking. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have any... My mom always made "Cheesy beef rice bake" and I love it! I'm trying to perfect it myself so that I can make it occasionally! :)
My cooking triumphs
Few and far between! I'm still trying to get my hands dirty and experiment. The only way to get better is to fail at first. :)
My cooking tragedies
Most recent: Last Christmas; sugar cookies. They became rock-hard lightly sugared flour blocks... It was so sad...

Christmas Stars
They puffed a little more than I thought they would... making my center stars look all squished. They taste okay, though, and this was my 6th batch of cookies today, so that may have a little to do with it. :) The dough was very sticky and difficult to work with; hence the 4 stars. :) Thanks!!

Chocolate Crackled Cookies
Mine did not turn out as beautiful as the ones in the picture... They were a lot of fun to make, though! I followed the recipe as it said, but the balls seemed to absorb the powdered sugar, and I made sure to cover them completely with sugar then powdered... they didn't flatten much either. But they're still yummy... I'm a little disappointed with the presentation, but other than that; fantastic cookies! :)

Soft Christmas Cookies
Greatest. Sugar cookies. EVER!! :) I've made more failed sugar cookies than I care to count, but this recipe is the BEST! I did only use 3C of flour and it kept them from becoming flour rocks, like previous batches. Also, take them out before any edges are dark if you like them soft with little to no crunch. Decorate before baking! I didn't know that, so I have several plain cookies, but the rest have sprinkles and such on them! Great recipe! Thanks!!
