Panettone Loaves

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
My grandma was Italian and we made Panettones every year as a family tradition. This recipe is very close to the one I use. Yes, It need salt 1 1/4 tsp for 4 cups flour. Also the instruction are bit complicated. When I do mine put the flour in the center of the table open the center and add the liquids, yeast and eggs mix a bit with some flour to make a soft dough almost creamy.. Sponge for 30 min. Add the sugar, egg yolks, soften butter, and flavoring like vanilla, zest. Make a soft dough and let double in size. Add the fruits. Put in the mold and do a X cut on top. I use this technique and always turn out great!

My kids and I picked berries today so we decided to try this recipe and give my husband a surprise. It is so easy and delicious! I noticed you don't have to be precise with the ingredients which is an extra point for me. Yummy!!!!!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
I usually do not like peanut butter cookies. But I make this ones for my family. They came our very yummy and light ( which is weird being that the ingredients are no light at all). So I really like them. I try one and two and tree and now my diet is for next week :) I did change it a little bit because i did not have all the ingredients on hand. I added 1 stick ( 1/2 cup) butter and half stick margarine. 2 cups white sugar and 1/2 tbs molasses ( no give the flavor of brown sugar). Everything else remains the same. I got 3 1/2 doz and they where pretty good size.

Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2003
This is a very good cheesecake, the flavor is delicious and it is easy to make. I made it twice and the first time I encountered the same problem that many of the other reviews had found with the time of cooking far off. The second time it turned out perfect. The thing that I found out that can be useful to you regarding the cooking time is to make sure you use a 10" spring form, because with the 9" the cake is to thick and it takes forever to cook. In the 10" it has the right thickeness to cook in 1 hour as the recipe suggests. Another thing is to grease the pan or it will stick (even if it is a non stick pan). Let it cool in the oven. And refrigerate overnight. When the cake is done the center (approx 2-3 inches)is not as hard as the border. I inserted a toothpick and it came out clean in the borders but not in the center. Once it cooled down it become harder. And after refrigerating it overnight it is perfect and creamy. If the cake is overcooked it becomes dry. Good recipe, better than what you can buy in the stores, good flavor! It is worth the time and effort to make it.

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2003
The flavor was god, but the sauce was to thick it turned almost like a paste. I have to add a lot more of soyce sauce and it was OK. I did not add the chili paste, instead some dry chili and was ok.The marinade is messy beacuse when I cook it the starch from a paste. There is just to much starch to me, maybe she was meaning teaspoons instead of tablespoons? Definally this recipe is a good starting point, but you have to do many changes to really make it work!

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2004
This brownies are a mix between a cake and a brownie, and they didn't have enough chocolatey flavor. I think next time I will follow the suggestions to use only 2 eggs, omit baking powder, and add chocolate chips to give it more flavor

No-Fuss Meat Loaf

Sorry to say in my opinion this meat loaf recipe is just not good. The stuffing mix gives it a "from the box" taste that I just do not like. Very plain. I will not make it again

Polvorones de Canele (Cinnamon Cookies)

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2002
They were easy to make, but I did not like the final result. My husband didn't like them either and requested a class of water to wash the dryness down. I guess it all depends on your taste.

Crabby Cream Cheese Wontons

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2004
What a waste of very good ingredients!! Very bad results. I followed the recipe exactly, but the filling was to runny, and the flavor of the soy sauce overpowered the flavor of the cheese and crab. I closed the wonton very well but because the filling was to runny the wontons broke in the oil. The kitchen was a total mess!! oil and filling all over. Will NEVER make again!. Next time I will try the Local Kine wonton.

The dough is hard to work with, and the flavor is not that great either. All the effort to do the homemade cookies and it doesn't pay.It is better to save your time and get something better at the groceries!
