This is my favourite time of the year. Warm enough to grill, and still cool enough to enjoy it.  Our apartment complex just opened up the pool, which makes it even better! Now, all I need is some good ol' charcoal briquettes and I'm good to go!

I love to grill anything that will stay on the racks. Corn, steak, hot dogs, patties, chicken, squash, sandwiches, zucchini... if it can stay up, it goes on.

And then the sides! I love making Pasta Salad, my mum has a recipe that is to die for, and I love it so. Throw in some homemade lemonade, and end with frozen juice bars, and it's a good day out at the grill.

Isn't grilling great? I love doing an entire meal on the grill - it is the taste of summer.

That's one of the reasons this is my favorite time of year. Entertaining is just so much more fun when we're all outside.

Entertaining becomes really enjoyable when I'm not trying to shove them all in my itty-bitty apartment, that I can agree with! I usually have a Bring-Your-Own-Blanket policy, which covers chairs and seating also, so that everyone who wants to come just can. Most of them bring something to add to the party when they come, so I never mind a few extra mouths (or several).

My favorite things to cook
My favourite things to cook are Asian dishes. I also like making my own pasta sauces, and even made a tomato-based sauce that was sweet. I just like experimenting in general!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family cooks, and cooks, and cooks. I grew up learning that food is company's best friend, and so food was always available to offer to guests. For birthdays we make a Chocolate cake that has a secret ingredient that is always a hit. Kielbasa is also a staple 'comfort' food, always served with vinegar.
My cooking triumphs
When my older brother developed an allergy to soy products, I helped adapt many recipes to become soy-free so he could eat them. It was a lot harder than I first thought it would be - especially the more I discovered how many products have some type of soy in them!
My cooking tragedies
My most memorable cooking experience has to be the first time I made apple pie. The instructor said to add 'as much brown sugar as you want.' I took that a bit too literally (horrid sweet tooth, I admit!) and ended up making what is now called "Apple Soup in a Pie Crust."
