London Broil I

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2014
Awesome marinade. Only had about 90 minutes to marinade it, but it made a big difference in taste and texture. Made sure to cook it rare.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2014
Perfect, eyeballed most of it and it made the meat taste just like I had used a taco seasoning packet for 1/10th of the cost, if that. Used 2/3rds cup water

Hasenpfeffer (Rabbit Stew)

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2014
Very good. Used a 3.5lb 12 month old domestic rabbit and it was very tender. Used the crock pot method, and onion instead of shallot. I read a few reviews that said they doubled the gravy so I added am extra half recipe for it and it was way too much. So if you use the crock pot, stick to what is written. Very enjoyable.

Curried Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
One of my favorite dishes in years of being on AR. Doubled the curry powder, added turmeric, cumin, crushed red pepper to the sauce mix, along with some fresh garlic and ginger. Chopped up 10 thawed chicken tenders that were previously cooked and let it simmer in the sauce while I cooked basmati rice in the microwave for 18 minutes. Very pleased.

I have never made Indian style food before and while this was a fair amount of work, it was very very good.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
Really good! I really through the comments and decided that this would probably be good regardless of how I made it. There really is no need to brown the beef, though. I threw in a packet of seasoning just to make sure it would have a good stew flavor which I think really helped. My only issue is that although everything was totally cooked after 6 hours on high, my potatoes were still a bit crunchy. Next time I may need to pre-boil, but I will use this recipe again.

Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2013
Not bad! Prep was tedious but the rest was super easy. It was tasty but missing "something". I served it over rice with cheddar. The worchestire sauce may have been a good idea.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2013
Very good! I used this recipe as a guide to make muffins with/for my toddler who is a plain berry hater. I used 1 and 1/2 bananas mashed instead of oil (this does give it a banana taste), 1/2 of the flour was whole wheat, I used 1c of frozen mixed berries, a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, and did not make the crumb topping. May cut sugar down next time. Yum!

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
A serious pregnancy craving for coleslaw lead me to this recipe. I've consumed coleslaw maybe a handful of times in my life and have never made it. SUPER RECIPE! I could have eaten half of this when it was freshly made (I liked the crisper cabbage and more vinegary flavor) but my husband who is a bit of a coleslaw critic thought it was perfect once chilled. I did not use poppy seeds, 1/3rd cup sugar, and used canola instead of vegetable oil.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Made this twice and it turned out really amazing both times. I followed usual pancake prep methods (let vinegar sit in milk 5 mins, stir minimally, let sit, flip once) and was very pleased. They are very rich so one batch as listed fed 4 hungry adults and 1 toddler.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
This is an excellent sausage gravy recipe. In fact, it's even gotten me to eat it - after 5 years in the south! I love that you don't have to take the sausage back out, that's a pain. To make this even better, substitute 1 cup of milk with 1 cup of evaporated milk. Much better!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
These muffins were great! Love the oatmeal texture. Made as directed except for pecans which I didn't have on hand. Made smaller muffins and they took about 16 minutes to cook for batches of 7. Make sure you are using quick cook oats!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2012
Great recipe! I've made a couple pizza dough recipes from this site and this is the easiest and the most consistent. I usually pre-make my dough earlier in the day so that gives it some time to rise, and this has come out of the fridge after a couple days just as excellent as freshly made. I wisk the sugar and yeast first, let it sit for a few minutes and then add the rest of the ingredients. I do find that I have to add a little extra water, but that's it.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
Now that I have made this multiple times I can say it is really good. It was my first soup attempt and I did not make the milk mixture thick enough the first couple times. It should be good and thick to make a thick soup once poured into the water mix. Adding other ingredients is great. And although I love potato with skin, you get the best texture with peeled potato.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Very dissappointed in this recipie. Onion still tasted raw, ketchup/brown sugar mix was WAY too sugary (even with half the sugar!) and the texture was very off. Too bad!!

Sweet Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
These were pretty good, but not quite cornmealy enough for me - I'm a big fan of Jiffy corn muffins for the taste and these were a bit different, lighter and sweeter. Overall, not bad. They lasted about 3 days on my counter covered up before they got too "wet". For the person who said they stick to the tin liners, consider using silicone baking cups and spray them with a little oil. No sticking here!
