I'm 25 and don't often get a chance to cook, since it's just me at home the majority of the time. Whenever I have people over or head to my sister's for a holiday, I always hop over here to find something delicious to bring.
My favorite things to cook
Vegetarian chili, thai, any kind of cookie or cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There are too many! My family lives by the motto "but what if we run out of food?!"When we're all together you'll probably see up peeling 15lb of potatoes for mashed potatoes or latkes. Every year at Thanksgiving we make "green death", pistachio cool whip mixture, which I'm sure exists elsewhere by another name. We never do run out of anything, luckily.
My cooking triumphs
I've made some absolutely beautiful layer cakes in my day. The best though was one day when I Amelia Bedeliad a vegetarian thai dish for my "veggie" friend. It had red curry, coconut milk, lime, ginger, peanut, red pepper, beans, carrot and lime-soaked tvp.
My cooking tragedies
The first (and only) time I tried to make eggplant, it just turned into a giant pile of mush. I ended up just throwing it out. I still have no idea what happened and am a little afraid to try it again. Another time I made stuffed poblanos, and the peppers were somehow shockingly spicy in a few spots and too mild in the rest. I might blame that on nature though ;)

Sugar Free Blueberry Coffee Cake
I made this cake with 1/2 splenda. It was absolutely delicious! Very moist, but held together well. The crumb topping is what kills you on calories, though, and I think it would be just as wonderful without it. It would cut a little sweetness out of the flavor, too, if you're baking for less sweet-toothed eaters.
