J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Sorry, but "I followed this to a T except I changed the leavening and the fat and the liquid and the amount of liquid and the baking time and the baking temperature" - seriously? And then you rate the recipe poorly? These are great, just as written.

Strawberries and Cream Shake

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
we all loved this as dessert on our carpet picnic movie night. Call the food police - i used Cool Whip. Worked great. i nearly doubled the strawberries as we needed to use them up. hubby and I added a smidge of limoncello to ours.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
Delicious. we all love this. I sprinkle with cheddar and bacon, because if my kids see cheddar and bacon, they'll actually take bites. In doing so, they accidentally discoverd that they love this soup. yay manipulation! :)

Delicious Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
fantastic! best salmon I've ever had. followed the directions exactly. even the pickiest eater in our house went crazy for it - woulda bought more salmon if I'd known he'd devour it. most definitely one for the repeat file.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
this is out of control delicious. I usually don't have time to make the chips, so I make the salsa, cut the fruit a little bigger, cut out some of the sugar, and serve it to my boys as a fruit salad. HUGE hit around here. I use 2 tbsp. dark brown sugar and add about 2 tbsp. lemon juice, with raspberry preserves.

Amazing Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
i LOVE this chicken. It comes out so juicy. I brush the mayo on one side with a brush, dip in crumbs, then repeat with the other side.. easier than coating the whole thing at once and getting mayo/crumb Hulk hands.

Lemon Raspberry Jumbo Muffins

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
i love making muffins and have my own little eccentricities about it... like using buttermilk instead of other liquids. i have some to use up anyway, so I used 1 tsp. baking soda instead of baking powder, and swapped out the half and half for buttermilk. I'm sure the original recipe is great, too.. would've tried it if I had half and half on hand!

Jasmine Cookies

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
pretty darn good. i used butter instead of margarine, and increased it to 1 cup based on a previous reviewer's problems with crumbly dough. my cookies kept a rounded shape, but it wasn't undesireable; reminded me of Mexican wedding cookies. the flavor is very nice.

Cold Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
loved this exactly as written. made it to take to my mother-in-law's house and had to fight the urge to eat half of it before leaving. the kids weren't wild about it, obviously, but the grownups literally cleaned out the bowl with hunks of bread.

Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I really didn't like this cake. Very eggy flavor, crunchy top and sides (I didn't overbake), and the texture was weirdly sticky and coarse. It was moist and not dense but overall just not very good.

Orange Cream Cocktail

my hubby and I doubled everything, added a hefty scoop of vanilla ice cream, and whirled it around in the blender for a minute. I wanted to crawl into my glass and stay there forever.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2011
really good, really moist, great texture. my only gripe is that it's WAY too sweet. Next time I'll cut the sugar back to 1 cup (probably less).

Shirazi Salad

Reviewed: May 22, 2011
served this a few weeks ago with 'Lamb Shawarma' from this site, and they were both great. i love simple, clean recipes like this; the fact that it's both delicious on its own AND easy to customize to your own tastes makes it five-star worthy, nothing less.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
Used leftover white rice from the fridge and a frozen pea/carrot mix for the veggies. This was a hit at our house. i think it's important to scramble the eggs with the other ingredients in order to get a "restaurant-style" result.
