Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2005
This was very good. I increased the mustard by about 2 Tbs. I sprinkled the roast with freshly ground pepper and didn't add any additional salt (soy sauce is enough). It made plenty of sauce. I basted two 3 lb. roasts during roasting and thickened the remaining sauce on the stove top. I sliced the roast and drizzled the reduced sauce over before serving. Everyone raved!

Candy Cane Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2005
My kids like this, but hubby & I think it'd taste much better using regular semi-sweet chips. That's what I'll try with next year's leftover candy canes!

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2005
I forgot the egg and the garlic powder and these were still great. I cut my pieces slightly larger and they were so moist and delicious!

Carnation® Quiche Lorraine

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2004
This is very good. I ususally don't make quiche because it calls for either 1/2&1/2 or light cream -- neither of which I usually have on hand, but I always have a can of evaporated milk. It was a very tasty meal.

Pineapple Carrot Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
I've had this in my recipe box for EVER and finally made it for a Christmas brunch today. I followed the directions to the T, but felt it was missing something....but wasn't sure what. I gave it a good sprinkling of cinnamon, stirred, and it was perfect. I really enjoyed it.

No Crust Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2004
I really liked this. I just LOVE pumpkin pie, but usually can't be bothered with making the crust. This pie was great!! It tasted really good and was super simple to make. I used a 9-1/2" pie plate and it need WAY more time to bake....10 minutes at 375 and just over an hour at 350.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
This was a tasty dip......beware -- it makes a TON! Perfect for a larger group. I followed the recipe exactly except for subbing balsamic for the red wine vinegar. MANY requests for the recipe.

Slow Cooker London Broil

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2004
This was quick and easy. I added a sliced red and yellow bell pepper. The smell is great. The gravy is excellent over mashed potatoes. Mine was done in about 7 hours even cooking it on low.

Eggplant and Tomato Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2004
I have to agree with the previous reviewer. My onions weren't done and plain crumbs made it, well, plain. I wouldn't try it again. I

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2004
I also followed GORMETMOMMYS suggestions. But instead of using lemon juice, I used LIME! They were AWESOME! It took 8 limes to get 1 cup of juice and I also added the zest of 4 limes and 3 drops of blue food coloring to the filling mixture. I had to bake the filling much longer (about45 minutes) but the end result was great tasting and very nice looking.

What a QUICK meal! I served it with rice pilaf and steamed brocolli; and of course, french bread to sop up that wonderful sauce!!

Green Bean Blue Cheese Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2004
A nice change from typical beans. I boiled the beans until just tender. Next time I'll add more sliced onion and more blue cheese. For the dressing I used about 3-4 Tbs. of both the balsamic and olive oil -- it was just enough to coat the beans without puddling in the bottom of the bowl. I didn't add the nuts (we're allergic).

Garlic Bread Fantastique

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2004
This really is FANTASTIC! I was skeptical with the mayo, but it's one of the best garlic breads I've ever made. I omitted the sage and parmesan (didn't have any) and used jarred minced garlic. A definite keeper!

Homemade Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2004
Boy did my arms get tired! I gave up and finished it in the Kitchenaid -- I had butter in about 30 seconds! I added a bit of salt and served it with freshly baked biscuits. A great way to use up leftover heavy cream. The kids enjoyed watching it turn from "milk" to butter. I can't believe how it even turns yellow.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2004
I slightly varied the recipe...since we like to put our own button on biscuits, I combined all the herbs/spices with the bisquick & cheddar. It made about 2 dozen small sized biscuits. I made homemade butter to spread on them, too. These were a nice change from plain biscuits.

Almond Chocolate Coconut Cookies II

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2004
As recommended in previous reviews, I increased the coconut by 1 cup, decreased the chips to 3 cups, and used 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 coconut extract. They really smelled just like the candy! This recipe makes a TON of cookies.

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: May 27, 2004
I love creamed corn (especially TRUE creamed corn), but this is really just corn in a heavy cream sauce. We didn't really care for it -- it's too much fat and calories for the end result.

Chicken Hurry

Reviewed: May 16, 2004
I made this with about 4 lbs. chicken thighs. The resulting dish was very tasty (but very greasy). I cooked it covered for 45 minutes, uncovered it and took out all the grease and baked it for 15 more minutes broiling for the last 5 to crisp up the skin. I'll try next time with boneless skinless breasts to be able to use the sauce over rice. The meat really does take on the flavor of the sauce. It's an easy, yummy dinner!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: May 15, 2004
I used this as the dressing on the site's "Greek Orzo Salad" and it was a perfect match. I scaled it down to 15 servings, used a little over 1 cup on the pasta salad and still have about 2/3 cup left--can't wait to try it on some lettuce!

Greek Orzo Salad

Reviewed: May 15, 2004
I've been wanting to make this for months but never had all the ingredients at the right time. I used all of the salad ingredients, but opted to use "Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing" and the juice of one lemon for the dressing instead of the artichoke oil & herbs that it called for. It was a very nice salad. I good change from the mayo based salads.
