Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2014
This is a great and very easy way to make a healthy chili. Delicious. You absolutely will not get anyone asking, "Hey is this health-food or something?", just "Wow, this is great chili". You can tweak chili a lot of ways: sub tomato sauce for tomato soup, add hot peppers, adjust onions and spices to your preference and so on. I make this chili just as written, and I make it with tweaks. Always great. Thanks!

Cucumber Sunomono

Made this exactly as written, and I really like it. I have been looking for a low calorie snack and was getting tired of plain cucumbers. Very good!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2013
Using fresh King Arthur bread flour, fresh Fleischman Active Dry yeast, and a Kitchen Aid mixer, I followed the recipe exactly. I have made lots of bread, and this is a great recipe. Moist, soft, white bread. Excellent.

Bread Machine Thin Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2013
Made this recipe as-is. Great thin crust. Super easy to make dough in the bread machine. Five Stars for us. Nice crispy texture as we'd hoped. It is also a good recipe for adapting as it takes well to subtle changes. On my second pass, I added Pizza Seasoning (King Arthur Flour brand) to the topping, and a little "pizzza dough flavor" (King Arthur brand again) to the dough when adding ingredients before the mixing cycle. The original recipe plus the adds gave the finished product a very familiar stone fired thin "gourmet pizza" finish. We can't stand to order delivery pizza anymore. Thank you, HEALTHY BOY. Excellent recipe. It's our standard now. (Two thumbs up.)

Chocolate Strawberries

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2013
Fantastic. So easy. First to go at parties. One tip. Don't leave them in the refrigerator too long. They start to sweat and the chocolate gets a little funky.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2012
We really liked this recipe. I did as some suggested and let the noodles soak in very hot tap water (I left it while the sauce was simmering), then finished cooking in the oven. We liked them better than cooking ahead. They had better texture. I agree with others about too much salt. Next time I'll cut it in half. There was also more sauce than I could fit in my pan with the other ingredients. Will leave out one can of tomato paste next time as well. It makes really, really good lasagna as written. Better than other recipes I've tried. Will make this again!

I don't typicall rate a recipe without making it exactly as written. However, I did everything except the last steps of wine, oil, and vinegar. It was soo good as is I just couldn't wait. LOVED IT.

Red, White and Blue Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
Great twist on an old favorite. I made exactly as directed. It was super easy and quite tasty. If you wanted you could make the cake from scratch for an even more home-made flavor. But as-is, it's good!

Quick Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2012
You can't get any better for a fast spaghetti sauce. I was out of bottled, and had all the ingredients on hand. The differences for me were saute the garlic, onion, and bell pepper, then some hamburger. Added the tomatoes, paste, and Italian seasoning to it all and simmered for about 30 minutes. Excellent! I'll definitely use this again. I imagine it's even better if there are leftovers that sit in the fridge overnight to let the flavors merge.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
This is a definite keeper. I shredded my own cabbage/carrot slaw mix, so am not sure how much it weighed. I made the dressing exactly as in the recipe, and then added a bit more cabbage/carrot slaw to make the dressing lighter overall, the way my boyfriend likes it. I was really amazed how great it is!

I love knowing exactly what goes into my food, and not having to include packaged taco seasoning is a great big plus for me. Thanks for the recipe!
