San Antonio Taco Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
Really good. I baked the tortillas and they took about 15 minutes at 350 to get crispy the way I like. My daughter was very impressed with the way the salads looked. And they were pretty, if I say so myself.

Leftover Chicken a la King

I didn't like the evaporated milk in this. It would have been much better had I gone with my insticts and made a white sauce with butter, flour and fresh milk which thickens well and tastes much better.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
I loved this but I love cream cheese and I don't like overly sweet frostings. I made it exactly as written. I used it to frost my daugher's birthday cake and she and her friends loved it, too, even though both of her friends said they usually don't like frosting. This frosting is VERY SOFT. I would not try to frost a layer cake with it. I made my cake in a 9x13 pan because, after reading the reviews, I knew it would be soft. It also does not harden at all, even after being refrigerated overnight. If you are looking for a sickly-sweet grocery store-type frosting, keep looking. If you want a great cream cheese frosting, use this one.

Frozen Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
My daughter loves this. I never add the sugar and have only used orange juice concentrate because my grocery doesn't sell the smaller cans. The first time I made it I didn't want to use the sweetened sliced strawberries (didn't want the sugar) so I had to buy whole strawberries and they did freeze up rock hard. It's pretty easy to slice the frozen whole strawberries (it seems like thawing and refreezing them is best avoided) and they are MUCH easier to eat when sliced. I bought a pack of five 1-3/4 cup glad containers and the salad fits perfectly in them. My daugher wraps them in ice block and takes them to school for lunch. Her friends are jealous and I feel good for giving her a healthy side for her pb&j! Even though I don't add extra sugar and use the unsweetened strawberries it's still plenty sweet for us (and my kid loves sweets). The juice in the pineapples is super sweet already.

Honduran Black Bean Chili

I was given a smoked turkey breat for Christmas and I had no idea what to do with it. Allrecipes to the rescue! This chili was easy and delicious. The whole family loved it. Even the tweenager! We used fresh cilantro instead of dried.

Lighter Fettuccini Alfredo

Neufchatel cheese is not the same thing as cream cheese, as a previous reviewer stated. It is similar but is lower in fat so if you are looking to cut calories, use the cheese in the recipe, not cream cheese.

Pork Normandy

I have terrible luck with pork, but this turned out very tender and good. It needed lots of salt and fresh ground pepper.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Mmmmm. One of the best recipes I've tried from this site. I used more veggies and ham and topped each bowl with some sharp cheddar. Very creamy and delicious.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
Loved it. I used 3 chicken breasts, which I pounded to about 1/2" thick (pounding always makes chicken breasts MUCH better). I poured the sauce over the breasts and let it marinate for a couple of hours before popping in the oven. Mine cooked in about 20 minutes. Oh - and I also doubled the ginger and garlic...yum!

Chicken and Corn Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
We really liked this. I used frozen chicken breasts and just chucked them in the slow cooker with the salsa in the morning. When I got home I added the other ingredients (I used black beans and added a can of Rotel) and cooked it on high for an hour or so. Ready just at the right time for dinner! And, this may have been the easiest recipe I've ever made. Next time I will add more vegetables but I loved the flavor.

Awesome Broccoli Marinara

I'm sorry but all I could taste was tomato in this recipe. I love broccoli, but I felt like I was eating just canned tomatoes. I guess it would be a good recipe for someone trying to hide the broccoli taste.

Very good, but a little greasy. Next time I will probably use a little less butter and a little more cheese - maybe throw in a little parmesan.
