Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
I increased the ham and topped with some bacon as suggested by other reviewers. Excellent soup, thanks for sharing! We will be making this regularly.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
I have been making this recipe for about 6 months and it is a hit! I made these for guests from out of town and they gobbled them up! If you want to make them even more special, add in a little grated lemon rind and some vanilla.

Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
This was good. We like more spice, so we doubled the spices and added in some adobo chili powder. Served with Grandmother's buttermilk cornbread from this site!

Blueberry Lemon Loaf

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
This was great - nice flavor. I made a double batch, with one set of muffins and one loaf. The cupcakes took about 30 min to bake. It was delicious!

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
This was a good basic recipe. I altered it (which is why I only gave 3) with some bell peppers, corn and peas for color. For my non-vegetarian husband, I added chorizo sausage. But the base recipe is good.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This tasted sooo good!! I used 2.5 cups broth, and even though the top was nice and moist, the bottom was close to burning, so watch it after about 3 hours or so!

Vicki's Hush Puppies

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
I was craving hush puppies so I made these. I used all purpose flour with some baking soda and buttermilk as suggested by others. These turned out okay - I will try again with self-rising flour.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
I used less sugar and butter, but otherwise made it as Bethany said, even all in one bowl. I was afraid when I added the eggs they would cook, so I tempered it and then held my breath - but they were fine. It was wonderful!! Thanks Bethany!!!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Two words: Awe-Some!! We took a shortcut with rotisserie chicken and added some extra cayenne. We ate it with "Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread" (also 5 stars!) from this site. Thanks Betty!! **Update - some black beans are also yummy!

Cream of Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
It was good, but I only give it 4 stars because I think the cream makes it unbelievably thick and rich. I used 1/4 cream and the rest skim milk and it was still quite thick. Yummy as is, otherwise. I didn't add more brown sugar like other reviews mentioned - I was afraid it would taste too much like dessert or pumpkin pie filling.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
My husband loves this dish - this was my 2nd time making it. The first time, I followed the instructions to a T - it was amazing! This time, I seared the meat then baked in the oven, which was also wonderful. I think this could be made with milk to cut down fat/calories with cornstarch added to thicken.

Pasta with Arugula Pesto

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
I didn't have basil, so I used cilantro (see step 1). It was a bit too peppry for me, and I really like arugula. Perhaps my arugula was not fresh. I will try again with basil.
