Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
This recipe creates really soft, chewy cookies (as long as you don't overbake!) They are best the first day or two, after that, they start to dry out.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
This recipe is awesome - moist and flavorful. In the cold months, I make a habit of bringing a loaf up to the cabin. It keeps well just sitting on the counter, although it doesn't last too long.

Jenny's Black Forest Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
The chocolate cake recipe is amazing - it has a great chocolately taste, is extremely moist, and has a pretty dense texture. Would probably also be great as cupcakes. I've been looking for a chocolate cake that wasn't dry - and my search is over.

Creamy Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
Excellent - I made the recipe exactly as it is and it was a huge hit at a holiday celebration. Everyone ate some, and most of us had seconds. I actually made it the day before and just reheated it on the day of the party, which made things much simpler for me. That worked really well.

Cinnamon Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: May 24, 2012
This waffles are amazing - nice crisp outside. I always whip the eggs separately - Williams Sonoma has this great hand-operated egg beater which makes it a breeze. Unfortunately, this doesn't make much. I can get two rounds of waffles in our Belgian waffle maker (or 8 individual waffles). That's about one waffle short of what our 3 person family would like to eat :)

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 24, 2012
These really are to die for - I've made them a few times for work, and word spreads very quickly around the office (and then the thank-you emails come pouring in). I tweaked it a bit based on other reviews - I use 1/2 c brown sugar and 1/4 c white sugar in the batter...and use buttermilk instead of regular milk. For the topping, I use brown sugar instead of white sugar. I didn't want huge muffins, but found there really isn't enough batter for 12. So I just fill in 9 of the cups of a 12 muffin pan (greased, no liners) and they come out just perfect. Bonus is that they are really easy to make - no need to drag out the mixer. I can whip them up before heading out to work and bring them in still warm.

Tender Pork Spare Ribs

Reviewed: May 24, 2012
These ribs were unbelievably tender, with the meat falling off the bone. My family thought they were tasty, but a touch bland. Perhaps I should have brushed more sauce over them. Anyhow, we spiced up the leftovers with a little store-bought BBQ sauce and it was fantastic. I will be making these again!
