I'm a retired high school English teacher. I am a writer and lecturer specializing in mysteries.
I am married with two grown children. My husband and I love traveling in our Motorhome.
I enjoy cooking and talking about cooking.
My favorite things to cook
So called comfort foods: Chicken and dumplings, pot roasts, soups and stews.
My favorite family cooking traditions
This tradition ended with my mother's death. Before that, my sisters and I, along with Mom, would get together to make jam and jelly every year when the grape harvest was ready.
Today our family holidays are centered around cooking and sharing.
My cooking triumphs
The one I remember best occured when I was 14. My cousin, after tasting the stuffed peppers I prepared, told my grandmother, a master cook, that my peppers were better than hers. She laughed and I preened. What a thrill.
My cooking tragedies
My family will never let me forget the Thanksgiving when my mother asked me if my mashed potatoes were some sort of sauce. (From that I learned the importance of using the right potatoes for the dish.)
