Old Bay® Shrimp Fest

Reviewed: May 31, 2004
Yum! This was not only tasty but fun!! Though next time, because of our own flavor likes, I'd add only a little sausage for flavor, and add more seafood-like crab legs! MMMMM

Cornflake Slice

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2004
I agree that 3/4 c was too much butter, and wonder if it might have been a typo? I used 1/4 c like I use in the Rice Krispy treats, and it worked great. It would have been a mess and soggy if I'd used all of it. As for the rest of the recipe: Yummy! I loved the coconut. It's a nice break from the tradition Rice Krispy recipe. Good recipe!

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2004
This was yummy. I did make a few alterations...I nearly doubled the recipe (except the potatoes/eggs), as I found it was a little dry as is. Instead of onion (which hubby dislikes raw) I added a good amount of onion powder, used 1/2 dill pickle relish and 1/2 sweet relish, left out the celery (didn't have any), but used extra celery seed (not celery salt). Mostly the same recipe, even after my alterations. VERY YUMMY! Great raves from my entire family and friends at dinner tonight.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2003
I'm not sure if I maybe did this wrong, because it got very good reviews, but no one in my family liked this. Myself included. I think it tasted a lot like it was made with balsamic vinegar which I cannot stand the taste of, so perhaps it was my own personal taste-other reviewers here obviously enjoyed it!

Chicken and Garlic Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2003
Good point-it was very tender. However it was not really garlic-y and not very flavorful. If I were to ever make it again, I'd definately add more spices. I served it to company, and they compared it to simple stewed chicken--what you get before you flavor it and start making the chicken and dumplings, soup or etc.

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2003
With changes others suggested...more garlic (for those that like lots of garlic flavor these would be great with a whole roasted garlic HEAD) and more liquid (they were too dry without more liquid) these were 5 stars with the changes. Great base recipe, even as is still good, just made it for our taste preferences!!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2003
Sooooo good! I made this for Easter and it was gone that day. Out of 6 adults and 4 kids, all loved it. It is moist and delicious. As far as the other reviews: yes it does need a day for the flavors to blend, I made it Saturday and it was pretty good, but by Sunday wow! I also took the other advice and used applesauce for half the oil, and used brown sugar for half of the white. For the frosting, I also only used half of the powdered sugar. It was perfect. The cake was very moist! Thank you so much for this recipe Tammy! I have tried to make carrot cake 3 times and it always turned out bad. No more! :)

Sesame Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2003
I also did as some others suggested and doubled the marinade/sauce so there would be extra over the rice. I also took two other suggestions and used half brown sugar and half white, and also added a package of oriental style veggies for the last 2-3 mins of cooking (but without these differences it still would have been delicious). This recipe was very good, and my hubby and kids even liked it and they aren't usually into this type of meal.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2003
Lots of flavor. This would also make a great marinade before smoking the salmon. Very good, and my hubby even said it's the best way I ahve ever cooked salmon (and he liked the other ways lol). Thanks Tina...

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2003
Pretty good. I'd add more seasonings next time, like some red pepper flakes as others have suggested and more garlic! It was good over egg noddles, but I might have liked it better over rice. And I think for some reason the sauce needed more thickening for my taste. But an overall good recipe and easy.

Horseradish Sauce

Delicious!! Not overly horse-raddishy, but added a nice subtle flavor and VERY creamy! It was excellent with our prime rib roast.

Pumpkin-Praline Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2003
It was ok. The flavor was more of pumpkin pie than a cheesecake and I prefer a dry cheesecake to the creamier ones. If you are a lover of true cheesecakes, this is not for you, but if you like cheese pie type desserts, this was perfect. The flavor was good tho.

Cranberry, Sausage and Apple Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2003
This was very good, I just thought it was OK when I first tried it. BUT if you let it sit for about half an hour or so-long enough to soak up the juices and flavors-it was excellent!! My guests loved it-I made it for Christmas dinner. Very flavorful.

Pretty yummy. I doubled it for my family of 6, but next time I will use less butter...I think it was only too much bc I doubled the recipe. My hubby and kids loved it!
