Mom's Sweet Potato Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
Made a double recipe of this (16 servings) for Thanksgiving today in 9x13 pan, and there were no leftovers! I used 2 large cans of yams, so a little more than 6 cups. Upon reading the reviews, I was weary of putting in that much sugar, but I still put in 1 cup brown sugar, and about 1/4 cup white sugar, which it probably didn't need. I didn't want that much butter either, so I used 1/4 cup butter, and a little more than a 1/4 cup of apple butter. I also put in 2 cups of pecans into the topping. Perfect!

Mini Crescent Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I added onion to the mix, and I didn't cut the crescent rolls. I just made regular size rolls and baked them the time said on the can. My husband loved these. They were quick and easy. Now I keep a few cans of crescent on hand, so he can make these when I am gone.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I love cabbage, but never really gave brussel sprouts a fair chance. I made this, and it is my husbands and my new favorite side dish. We are making it for Thanksgiving this year. I use frozen brussels, and I took the advice of others and boiled them for about 5 minutes, and then season them (just in a large bowl, not a resealable bag) and roast them. I haven't gotten a chance to roast them for the full time yet, and I pull them out when my husband gets home so we can eat right away, and he has gotten home earlier than I expected. But I have roasted them for no less than 20 minutes with great results.

Meat Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I bought some pork chops on sale, and forgot to buy a marinade. So I made this one. It was very tasty, and so easy to make. Will use again.

Pumpkin Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I made this, as a copy of something I had at a restaurant, and it was even better. I used spice cake mix, as it is what I had on hand, and it was spicy and had a great pumpkin taste. I used pumpkin pie spice, instead of cinnamon, and it was perfect. Will make again for company, but it was too many servings for 2 people at home.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I have made this 2 times in 2 weeks since I discovered this recipe. I purposely don't eat the bananas I buy, just so I can have an excuse to make this bread. My husband said it was the best banana bread he has ever had. I used pumpkin pie spice, as I was out of cinnamon, and as I usually substitute PPS for cinnamon, and it was perfect. I made a 1/4 recipe, as I just have 1 loaf pan, and it worked perfect. I am going to give these out for Christmas.

Pumpkin Spice Cookie

I made these for work, and got great reviews. They were gone in a matter of minutes! I did add an egg to make them extra moist. Will make again.

Snickerdoodles IV

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I made these and they were great right out of the oven. But I let them cool and sit out a little longer, and they turned into little sugar bricks! Make sure you store them in an airtight container ASAP!

Curly Noodle Dinner

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I can't believe this recipe is on here, I always thought my mom created this. My mom used to make this for me growing up. Money was tight, and what is cheaper than canned corn and ramen? I make it for my husband to take to work for lunch, as it heats up even better. I always add at least a half of an onion. I usually add 2 packets of ramen, but usually only 1 flavoring packet, to cut down on salt. I try to get the canned diced tomatoes with a seasoning in them, like oregano and basil to add flavor. Not gourmet, but leftovers are great for lunch.

Puppy Chow I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
You definitely have to wait for it to cool before covering in powdered sugar. My husband and I got in a hurry, and coated it while still warm, and it melt the powdered sugar, resulting in not white puppy chow. I used natural peanut butter, and I think it made the rice cereal too mushy. So I wouldn't recommend natural peanut butter. But it might have been that I bought cheap cereal. Will make again.
