About this Cook
I love my little kitchen, i love my gadgets and I love sharing the fruits of my labour!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies that I know will drive my boyfriend wild!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas is big in my family. My mom and I bake for days. I use her kitchen, It kicks my kitchen's butt. We're not a fancy peoples, but there is a lot to be said for space!
My cooking triumphs
Too many to list!!!! ;)
My cooking tragedies
My family is from Finland and making Pulla (Finish coffee bread) is a right of passage. All Finish women have made Pulla, except me.... until recently. OK, the bad news first - My mother brought me a hand blender from Florida last summer which opened the door to amaizing Meringues and fabulous mixes! Of course, being an idiot, i thought it would be a good idea to use the blender to begin the Pulla dough (while it was still soft with only 1/2 the flour - cause of course i'd use my hands after it started to come together). Well, didn't i blow the motor! So, no more hand blender. It still sits on my counter and I keep plugging it in and shaking it and praying that it will start up. It's dead. Good news - the PUlla was AWSOME! The recipe appears on this site and it's very accurate - check it out!

Overnight Chinese Daikon Radish Pickles
Daikon Radishes are LARGE. I wasn't sure what to do with my left overs so this recipe was GREAT! I will buy my next Daikon with this recipe in mind!

Raw Brownies
Delicious! I will make these again and again. Kinda felt like a hippie, but honestly the possibilities are quite endless. I used crushed Walnuts and toasted almonds (instead of sesame seeds and sunflower seeds) and then in the intrest of fibre, some All Bran (about a cup). At first i thought the 1/2 cup of honey wouldn't saturate the dry mixture but after stiring for a bit with a wooden spoon, the honey saturated the mix and once chilled made a crisp, totally yummy, easy to cut into bars, treat! Next time i will use WHO KNOWS! all sorts of stuff!

Fish Sinigang (Tilapia) - Filipino Sour Broth Dish
Delicious soup! definately comfort food, but light! I used 1/4 cup fresh lime juice instead of the Tamarind paste cause i just couldn't find any! I also disolved a teaspoon of thai green curry paste into the water for a bit of kick! Needed salt but that can always be added to taste after. Fast tastey dish!
