I had to make some weird changes because certain ingredients were unexpectedly missing from my fridge! Instead of an actual onion, I used a Tbsp of dried minced onion, and apparently the author of this recipe has done the same thing, so I feel better about it, haha. Also, I used Sriracha for my red pepper sauce .
Here's where I had to be VERY creative. I had no milk (my husband drank the last of it the night before and didn't tell me!), and my bread crumbs were unseasoned. Since I figured the milk was meant to add moisture to the mix, and I needed some sort of seasoning to make up for the bread crumbs.... I used 1/4 cup of Italian salad dressing with the crumbs I had. Weird, I know, but it worked fairly well. The meatballs were slightly less sturdy, and there was some oil runoff (from the dressing, no doubt) but for 98% of the time they held up while I picked them up off the baking sheet, and they tasted fantastic! My husband loved them so much, he kept bugging me to bring out the leftovers (of which we had plenty, which was also awesome about the recipe) in the following days.
