Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
In addition to following changes by most, I always strain the custard cream. The changes that helped the most--split the flour into half portion corn starch, half portion flour. Split vanilla into half portion vanilla, half portion coconut extract. And, I split the half anf half to half coconut milk, half-half and half. (I have also substituted whole milk for half and half.) I also only toast half of the coconut, and put the other half untoasted. All of the modifications are wonderful! Thank you everyone!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
I've made this many, many times and shared with family and friends. It's a much loved favorite! I do make the dressing well in advance to make sure the sugar has dissolved well enough.

Basil Butter

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
Great recipe! If you use salted butter, you don't need salt, or not much of it. The tartness of the lemon juice pulls out the salt in salted butter.

Love this recipe. I also have used it as a base for meat sauce, and it works well, too!

Lemon Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
I melted the butter (used unsalted) then added all of the ingredients. I increased vanilla to 1 full teaspoon and added lemon extract like others (one teaspoon). That made for a great thick, but not too thick, glaze. Tasted great, too!

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
Fresh and delicious! I substituted craisins for raisins since I had those on hand, and I toasted the almonds first. I did chill the dressing, but I didn't combine everything until right before I served. Family favorite--thanks for sharing.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
I also used one whole recipe of Chili Mix II (minus the salt) like others had suggested in place of the chili seasoning. I used a fresh, refrigerated salsa, drained. And, I use a little more tomato sauce if I've got a several hours to let it cook down. Wow! Best chili ever. Quick to make. Enjoyed by all! Thanks very much!
