About this Cook
I am what I would consider a simple cook. I like simple recipes, I am not much for buying every spice in the world and use every appliance man has created. My friends and family love my cooking. It is wholesome, simple and easy to make. Now that I am not working (lost my job a year ago) I am trying more recipes and getting more involved in trying new things. So far so good, everything I have made has been a hit with hubby. I love looking for new recipes on I have always used this website and find it to be just what I need to try new things. Thanks for all the help and happy cooking to all!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake cakes and cookies. I love my crock pot and am always looking for new recipes to try. I just bought a cast iron covered casserole dish and I love it. The food comes out so delicious and flavorful.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mothers menu's for holidays are always done in my house. And my son and daughter have also carried on her traditions. She was a great cook. Some of her recipes have been updated but basically we honor her every holiday with her delicious food!
My cooking triumphs
I do not know if I have any specific triumphs in cooking. If it comes out right I feel everything I make is a triumph. If it does not come out right, I say "oh well, trash that recipe" and I try another.
My cooking tragedies
I have the most difficulty in making home made gravies. I keep trying and trying and sometimes I have a triumph and sometimes a flop. I always have store bought gravy in my pantry just in case!

Grandma's Fresh Apple Cake
I love anything baked with apples. This cake was very moist and nicely sweet. I liked the ease of it, I didn't have to use my mixer. A wooden spoon was enough. I'll make this one again and again!
