Roasted Duck

Reviewed: May 27, 2014
The rating is for the recipe as written. The changes I made to make it 4 stars are as follows. No butter, just basted with duck juices half way through. Stuffed the inside with 1 lemon quartered, 6 pearl onions, & 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic. The skin was delicious. I plan on tweaking the stuffing some next time. Overall I really enjoyed the simplicity of this recipe.

No Bake Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2013
My family really liked this recipe & will be making it again soon. I used a mixer to mix the first 3 ingredients. Added the rice cereal then divided that between 2 8X8 pans. I put 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate in one pan & 1 cup of milk chocolate in the other pan. I warmed the knife under hot water before cutting which helped keep the chocolate from breaking. I definitely think you should double the chocolate as I did. As far as which kind, I think that is personal preference. My family was 2 for semi-sweet & 2 for milk. I hope this helps! Thanks for the recipe!

CindyD's Somewhat Southern Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2013
The flavor of this chicken is awesome! We will definitely be making it again. I was out of eggs so I just didn't use them, which was fine. I do however think the cook time is too long. I tested my chicken 5 minutes before time and it was already at 200 degrees so I'm thinking maybe 10 minutes each side, maybe even less. Besides that the chicken was perfect! Making the gravy with some of the leftover flour however was not a good idea; it did not have a good flavor at all. I want to end on a good note so I'll state again, GREAT chicken! Thanks for the recipe! :)

Skillet Strawberry Pancake

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2013
This was not a hit in my house. My kids(5 & 10) didn't eat it at all. I think it would have been better without the strawberries. It was pretty plain. Might try the cinnamon or chocolate variation once.

Soy and Honey Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2013
Awesome!!!! My whole family loved the flavor! I didn't have onions so I used onion salt. I sprinkled with onion salt & pepper. Then browned in canola oil on the stove. Mixed the first 3 ingredients & poured over top of chops in a pan. Then cover & put in the oven at 350 for 20-25 minutes. SO GOOD!!! Next time I might marinade the chops & maybe even some veggies in this sauce.

Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
I wish that I could could give a 4.5. The only things I did differently were no salt or pepper, low sodium brown gravy mix & double carrots. It cooked for 8 hours. The sauce was amazing!!! I can't say that enough! The carrots absorbed the flavor perfectly. However, the sauce didn't thicken, which was fine, could always take it out & thicken it before serving. My meat was disappointing. It was dry & unflavored inside. We all had a little & smothered it in sauce. Then I sliced the rest & soaked it in the sauce overnight. The next day it was awesome, tender, flavored & juicy. So, in conclusion, I'm going to experiment to get the meat to taste better on the first day(maybe different cut, shorten time, slice before cooking?) but the sauce is my new favorite! LOVE IT!

Mushroom Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
This was the first meatloaf that I have ever made and the whole family loved it! The changes I made(thanks to reviews) were: onion soup mix instead on onion, cream of mushroom instead of ketchup, & garlic salt instead of salt. Next time I think that I will add some Swiss cheese.

Tarragon Mushroom Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
I really loved this! The only thing that I changed was I double this sauce so that there would be more gravy. I made it with mashed potatoes & green bean casserole.
