About this Cook
Both my mother and grandmother were born and raised in Mexico. They moved here after my mother married my father who was an American soldier in the US Army. My grandmother cooked traditional Mexican food and she taught me how to cook all sorts of delicious foods. I would have to say my passion for cooking was inspired by my grandmother who was always in the kitchen! I guess I'm walking in her footsteps. Not a bad thing. She was an amazing woman!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake cookies, cakes, breads, Asian and Mexican foods, and more recently all organic vegetarian and/or vegan dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
It's a tradition to bake a huge variety of cookies for Christmas. My grandmother used to make a fried flour tortilla made from scratch which she dipped in a brown sugar syrup. They were called buñuelos and my eyes would light up whenever I saw her making them! She would usually make these for Christmas, my birthday, or sometimes "just because she loved me."
My cooking triumphs
A very good friend of mine loves my cooking so much that she hired me to cook for her three times a week. So now I can call myself a "personal chef." Now that's a cooking triumph!
My cooking tragedies
I'll never forget the time I was in a hurry to make a cake for some friends who were coming to visit from out of town. This was about 8 years ago. Whenever I'm in a hurry or if I get interrupted, it usually doesn't work out for me. The cake turned out awful and my big sister thought it was funny. She called it "the titanic." It really hurt my feelings.

Basic Biscuits
This is an excellent recipe! Since most shortening contains soy (which I can't have), I substituted a stick of butter, plus a tablespoon of coconut oil. I accidentally put in a teaspoon of salt instead of half, but they tasted great! The biscuits turned out light and fluffy, and my family loved them! This is a "keeper recipe!"

World's Best Lasagna
I was a little skeptical at the name of this recipe, "World's Best Lasagna,." After making this myself, I can't believe how delicious it is! This recipe lives up to its name. I highly recommend it. This instantly became a family favorite, and I will definitely make this again. Try it. You'll love it!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
THE NAME SAYS IT ALL. BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES EVER! I DIDN'T CHANGE A THING, BUT I DID USE ALL USDA CERTIFIED ORGANIC INGREDIENTS. THESE ARE LIGHTLY CRISP AROUND THE EDGES, JUST AS THE RECIPE STATES, AND GOOEY GOODNESS ON THE INSIDE. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!! I GIVE THIS RECIPE FIVE STARS.
