Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2002
My husband is sometimes hard to please, but he LOVED these. They have the taste and texture of the famous mall/airport chain, are just as yummy, and a lot cheaper. The bread machine makes them very easy to make. It takes a while to get the finished product, but you don't have to slave over them the whole time. I probably had only 20 minutes of labor involved in them. The rest of the time you can do other things. This is only my second attempt at homemade cinnamon rolls, but since they tasted so good and were so fun and easy to make, I'll never need another recipe.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2002
Yum! Not to be cliche, but my hard-to-please husband took one bite and emphatically said, "These are good." I put all the spices in the mix, including a pinch of basil and oregano. They cooked in 10 minutes, but I had to bake them for 35 to get them to brown (and the bottoms weren't even close to being burnt!). Next time I might try baking for 10 minutes, brushing with butter, then broiling for however long it takes to get them browned.

Salad with Prosciutto and Caramelized Pears and Walnuts

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2002
I was excited about this because I love pears, but the combination of flavors was strange. I wasn't wild about the dressing-there was a weird, olive oil aftertaste. I think the recipe would grow on you.

BBQ Chicken Pizza I

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2002
My husband thought the high quantity of sauce overpowered the flavor of everything else, but I really liked its tangy flavor. The pizza looked pretty--like something from a gourmet pizza parlor. I'll probably make it again, just cut the amount of sauce.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2002
I couldn't even manage a makeshift double boiler, so I melted the chips on low heat. It worked fine. I skipped the toothpicks and just held the berries by the stem for dipping and placed them on a cookie sheet. The chocolate coating stayed on the berries well. The tasted great and were fun and easy to make.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2002
Not bad for low-fat. The bread was very moist, but a bit bland. I couldn't taste the banana when I tested the batter, so I added another 1/2 cup of mashed bananas. I also added 1/2 tsp of almond extract. Next time I'll add more cinnamon, and maybe some cloves or nutmeg.

Macaroni with White Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2002
This recipe was yummy. I added basil and oregano to the meat mixture, and skipped the oil except for the white sauce. The only drawback is all of the cleanup it creates! I had to use two pots, a pan, and a casserole dish.

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: May 4, 2002
Yummy. I used leftover cubed chicken to speed things up. I garnished it with cilantro.

Velveeta® Cheesy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: May 9, 2002
Quick and easy. I browned the meat in worcestershire sauce to add some kick.
