Slow Cooker Oats

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
This is a great recipe! I make as is or add milk or juice instead of some of the water. I add dried cherries, or cranberries, pecans. I use brown sugar, white sugar, or maple syrup. I usually add 1 cup of pumpkin puree with pumpkin spices. But however I make it, it is always yummy! If you double it, you reduce the chances of it burning on the sides and you can freeze individual portions in the small 1 cup Ziplock containers. Then microwave frozen for 3 minutes.

Quick Brussels and Bacon

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
These are so good! If I am lazy I chop the bacon before cooking and when the bacon is almost done I throw in the shallots (or onion) until tender and then add the brussels. I do not drain the bacon grease. Sometimes I serve the brussels with shredded parm and drizzled balsamic vinegar. YUM! Great recipe!

Kool-Aid Sherbet

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2012
I made it with orange flavored Kool-Aid. Instead of sugar I used sweetened condensed milk and 3 cups of 1% milk. It was a little too sweet (because of my substitution) so I added 1 more cup of milk. I was looking for more of a dreamsicle flavor so I added 1/4 packet of pink lemonade and 1 t. vanilla extract. YUM! I poured the mixture in freezer slush mugs and they were done in 30 minutes after stirring every 10 minutes. My suggestion is to mix it and taste it. If it is too sweet add more milk, if too tangy or tart, add vanilla or a pinch of salt. Don't freeze it if it doesn't taste right. It won't taste different when frozen. Also, these would make awesome popsicles! I'm going to try this with yogurt instead of milk.
