About this Cook
I like to think of cooking as an artistic endeavor, creating art with flavor, color, and texture.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook spicy food and I don't just mean spicy hot. I literally have hundreds of spices right in my own kitchen and grow herbs, vegetables, and such in the summer.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have cooking family traditions. I grew up where cooking was more utilitarian. Maybe that is why I love to spice it up so much now!
My cooking triumphs
I have mastered traditional Indian curries, Thai street food, artisan chocolates, and hand made pasta.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first experimenting with baking cake without a recipe, I put in so much baking powder that even the dog wouldn't eat the wonderful smelling chocolate cake! She would smell it and try, but then just look at me like "what did you do?"

Beef Stroganoff III
I marenated in red wine as well, used fresh mushrooms added right after the onions, and used flat iron steak. Truly a remarkable recipe for "lesser" cuts of beef!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
I was out of celery so I used chopped cilantro leaves and stems instead. You can also add a cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the white sauce step, but if adding cheese leave out the extra salt. I was also trying to use up leftover Christmas ham so I used double the meat!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
You can't go wrong with these! I add cinnamon to the sugar mix I roll them in and no one who has tasted them doesn't love them.
