Shish Tawook Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 21, 2012
Really excellent recipe! I have modified it with more garlic and spices, maybe a little more lemon or tomato from time to time, but even when made exactly as written, it is wonderful! Thanks for this recipe, it is one of my staples when we do 'middle east' night now. Oh, and one thing I want to add...use Greek yogurt! It is tangier and seems to tenderize the chicken a bit more than 'normal' yogurt. Try a little on top after cooking, as well!

Pesto Chicken

I am skeptical of any dish I find here with fewer ingredients than star ratings. Now, that being said, this one kicks @$$! Didn't change a thing and it was perfect!

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
Excellent recipe! I added a few things that other people had suggested. Added: 1/2c of vanilla coffee creamer, about 2 T of Brandy, sprinkled with brn sugar, and added about 1/2c thawed bagged blueberries. I cut the bread cubes to about 1-1.5" and used a little more than suggested. I added an extra egg and some more milk to compensate and had no problem with mushiness. Maybe that was also due to using a 9X13 pan and keeping everything on a single layer. Baked 35min @ 375. Definitely going on the Breakfast for Dinner (or 'B for D' as it is known in our house) menu!

Rubbed and Grilled Pork Loin

Well done, Chris! This DOES take me back to the Gulf Coast! I followed this to the letter (but used smoked paprika), and it just ROCKS! This is going in my recipe box, and you will have to forgive me if I forget to give you credit when my wife finishes raving about it!

Favorite Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2011
Great recipe! I added a tsp of fresh grated orange zest. I also brushed the crust with an egg wash (1 egg yolk+1t. of heavy cream) for a beautiful golden brown matte finish! Saving this recipe and going to make it next weekend after I pick up a lot more rhubarb from the farmers market!

Cheesy Hash Brown Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
I reduced the sour cream to 1 cup, added some swiss cheese, green onions and about 1/2 lb of diced ham. I also added about 2 T. of dijon mustard and about 2t. of horseradish. This gave it some extra flavor without being overpowering. Great base recipe. I'm sure many of us will adjust to taste, but thats what cooking is all about!

Roasted Garlic Potato Soup with Smoked Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
Excellent! All I changed was the onion, I used a whole medium onion rather than the 1/4 cup that was suggested. Aside from that, I followed the recipe exactly and it was AWESOME! thanks for a great recipe!

Sicilian Meat Roll

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2010
Great recipe. I followed it pretty closely, but changed it as follows: Used 3 oz Prosciutto instead of ham. Used provolone instead of mozz. Added 1 sliced green onion, sprinkled on the meat before the ham. Used 1.5lb 97% ground beef and .5 lb mild Italian sausage. Only had to bake mine for 60 minutes, also. Next time I'll probably skip the salt, but overall a good recipe!

Lentil and Sausage Soup

5 stars! Excellent recipe. Followed it pretty closely, but added an extra rib of celery and some extra garlic. I hit it with a hand blender for a few seconds to make it a little thicker. Will definitely make this again!

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
tasty recipe. however, it was a bit on the sweet side for me. i thought it was a bit soupy too... so i added more garlic, about 2 tsp red pepper flakes, a can of garbanzos, 2 med red potatoes (diced), and 1/2 of a small can of tomato paste instead of the tomato sauce. like i said, good recipe. i just had to adjust it to my taste.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
wow...this sauce is excellent. i looked at the previos reviews before deciding to use this recipe. someone mentioned that they didnt change it at all, so i figured i would try it as the recipe is written (something i NEVER do). i am really impressed with this sauce...perhaps next time i will tweak it a bit, not because it needs it thought.
