I am a retired graphic artist. My husband (a retired teacher) and I enjoy traveling, volunteering, reading, getting together with friends, our large extended family, especially with our three children, their spouses and 6 grandchildren (lovely people all of them.)
My favorite things to cook
First and foremost: APPETIZERS. My bridge group has been getting together once a month for 40 years, and we all excel at hors d'oeuvres. Next would be dishes I can take to potluck getogethers.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every summer our whole family (grandparents, parents and children) spends a week together in Michigan, sharing a large rented house. Each family takes turns doing the dinners, including: preparing the menu, shopping, cooking and cleanup. This way the others get a break.
My cooking triumphs
Hosting parties, and getting everything to the table on time and the right temperature.
My cooking tragedies
The first meal I ever made for my husband when we came home from our honeymoon. I made eggs and toast using our brand new skillet and toaster. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the little gift card was still in the toaster. A lot of charring and smoking and setting off the fire alarm went on.
