I'm a single mom living in Augusta, Georgia. I have been in the Navy for nearly 6 years and have only just started cooking/baking. My dad has always been the cook of our family and tried to teach me when I was younger, but I had no interest. Now I call him every day to ask him questions about cooking techniques. It is difficult for me to find recipes that I like since I'm pretty picky and don't really eat vegetables. I'm trying new things, though!
My favorite things to cook
Pasta and pasta sauces!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom always made date balls around Christmas time. Whenever I make them, they are a hit, and they always remind me of my mom :)
My cooking triumphs
I can get people to eat the things I make most of the time...
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to make hummus for a pig-in for my Arabic class. The recipe called for 1 clove of garlic.. I thought that a clove was the entire bulb of garlic... so I added the entire amount of garlic before finding out that it was far too much. I wrote "caution" on my dish and explained what had happened. The group ate it anyway, I guess some people just really like garlic!
