Maple Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
This is a great brine, the soy sauce gives the turkey a lovely rich color and the turkey was very juicy. I put the garlic cloves in the cavity for cooking and people were fighting for them! For smaller birds, use a shorter time in the brine to keep it from being too salty.

Bertha's Big Bourbon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
I'm really shocked at the bad ratings and glad I didn't read them before making the cake. It was a huge hit! I didn't find it dry at all. Should have used a little less water in the glaze as most of it ran off, but probably it was very tastey

Beer Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
The key to this is to used a spicy sausage. The first time I served it I used turkey polska kilbasa and my family didn't like it at all. I added some spicy sausage and it became a hit!

Sunday Gumbo

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
My family loved this. I cooked the chicken ahead and threw it all in a crock pot. Added the last 3 ingredients as we walked in the door and by the time the table was set and we were ready to eat it was ready to serve.

Best Chocolate Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
Very good cake, but too much batter for my 10 in. pan. It rose up over the top and by the time it was cooked through the bottom was burned (mostly my inexperience) Not an easy recipe, but I will try it again
