Hot Bean Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
This was pretty good as bean dips go. I left out the hot sauce and parsley, replacing it with some thick salsa. Also added a pound of ground beef. After browning the beef, I threw everything in the crockpot (as someone else suggested) and let it heat up. It turned out pretty good. Be careful if you use the crock, however. After it warms, the dip tends to curdle a little with all of the dairy products in it. Watch it closely.

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
I knocked off a star only because if you follow the cooking temperature, you're gonna end up with charred meat and veggie sticks! Cook these at a medium temp., however, and you will have an awesome dinner! We added more garlic (of course) and also marinated some orange and yellow bell peppers with everything else. The results (after having a good laugh at the suggested cooking temperature and wisely changing it) were incredible!

Potluck Pan Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2006
My sister made these for the holiday after I found the recipe for her. They were very fluffy and light...a little sweeter than we like them, but hey, next time we can compensate for that! Overall, pretty good.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
The only change I made was to sub cottage cheese for the sour cream. Other than that, we really liked the flavor and I loved the ease.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
This was pretty good after a few suggested changes. I used gravy mix instead of beef broth, didn't mash the carrots, used frozen mixed veggies, and only used 3 medium sized potatoes. Hubby asked to have it again soon.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
These were awesome. I wasn't crazy about the topping but the family liked it. I added a little vanilla and doubled the blueberries. Came out great. *Update- Cut the temp. back to 375 and these turn out MUCH better.

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
This was really good. I browned the breasts quickly, then added some chicken broth, covered and let simmer til done. Then thickened the broth to make a gravy. Family really liked it. Not exactly a gourmet dish, but quick and easy. Will make again.

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
I hate to go against the majority here, but this was awful. It might be really good without the lemon, but with the lemon, it was just disgusting. I won't be making this again...very disappointing.

Smoky Potato Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
This was ok. I'm not a big fan of smoked sausage, but my hubby is. He has been bugging me to find a soup where I can use it, so I tried this one. I used butter instead of margarine and added a little more cheese. Next time I don't think I'll mash any of the potatoes. It gave the soup a strange texture and there were no "chunkies" except the sausage. Could add most any veggies here. A good base.

French Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
This was a great stew. I added mushrooms, a package of onion soup mix, a little worcestershire sauce, and cut the mustard in half. My family loved it.

Clam Sauce with Linguine

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2005
Ok, this is amazing. Even my picky 4 yr. old ate it. My hubby said "So you're keeping this one, right?". He usually doesn't even ask...lol. This one is definitely a keeper.

Granny's Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2005
I personally liked this recipe...not loved it, mind you, but liked it. However, my husband, who boldly allows my creativity in the kitchen, couldn't even finish this. I don't think that I have ever seen this happen before...lol. He didn't like the taste of the sauce, the chunkiness of the veggies in this one, or the tough-chewiness of the meat. Sorry, but thanks for posting anyway.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw II

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
A few quick changes made this perfect in our book. I left out the extra milk...the buttermilk was plenty of liquid. I also added just a touch more sugar. Other than that, great!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
Ok, I changed my technique on the pork only to keep them from drying out like others complained of. I seasoned them with garlic, salt, and pepper...then quickly browned them over high heat. Then added a bit of chicken broth to the pan, covered and simmered while I prepared the rest of dinner. I had moist, juicy chops to eat with these superb apples. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
Hubby (the chocoholic) absolutely loved this recipe! I could have done without the chocolate chips myself, but that's just me. Other than that, great recipe. Used cold coffee instead of coffee liquer. Other than that, kept it the same. Will make again for sure.

Chicken Parmigiana

Loved, loved, LOVED this recipe. Wouldn't change a thing, except maybe more cheese! My 4 yr. old daughter absolutely loved this. She is a big chicken fan and a big spaghetti fan, so to her, this was the best of both worlds!

April's Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
This was good after a few changes...I used garlic powder instead of garlic salt, and then used just a pinch of kosher salt. A little less mustard, a little more mayo. Also added a pinch of sugar. Really good with the changes, not so good without them.

The Best Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2005
This has been a standard "holiday" potato dish in my family for years. I never really had the exact measurements to give to requesters, but this is a little more precise than my "pinch of this, scoop of that." Thanks for posting.
