Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
Pretty good recipe. Next time I will add more bacon and less tomatoes. Also, instead of wilting the spinach with the pasta water, I sauteed it just until wilted in the bacon grease. My hubby loved it.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
Loved this! I did leave out the artichoke because I didn't have any. I also added some chopped cooked bacon. Will add more of that next time...YUMMY!!! Also, next time I will probably make my own alfredo sauce instead of using the jarred kind. Awesome base recipe.

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
I only made a few small changes, but my family loved it. I only used 1/8 tsp. of crushed red pepper because I'm not big on spicy food. I also left out the caraway seed (don't like it) and chopped the cabbage instead of wedging it. Will saute the kielbasa a little next time before I add it to the cabbage mix. Overall, a great recipe.

Best Ever Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
This was really good. I made a few small changes just for my families taste prefrences...I used 2 Tbsp. of dill, 1/4 c. of grated parmesan, and left out the lemon pepper seasoning. Next time I will try the suggestion of adding a little bacon, but it was great without it!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
LOVED this recipe. I am an admitted non-fryer. I always end up doing something wrong. However, this dish sounded so simple that I had to give it a try. I'm glad I did. My family loved it and begged me to make it again and again. I used chicken cutlets to save time and changed the garlic to 2 Tbsp. I also used buttermilk instead of regular milk. Thanks for the great recipe!!!

Grilled Pizza Wraps

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
These were pretty good. Certainly not pizza, but they will do in a pinch. My 5 year old loved them. The rest of us just thought they were ok. However, they are easily made, with ingredients I always have. I always have tortillas...don't always have pizza crust...so this is a good standby for us.

Broiled Herb Butter Chicken

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
I gave this a 3 because that's how my family rated the original recipe. However, I made this and baked the chicken at 350 for 30 minutes, then broiled for about 7 minutes and they loved it. The broiling used in the recipe turned my chicken dry and tough around the edges. The only change I made to the seasonings was to add a little salt and onion powder.

Bacon Cheese Puffs

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
LOVED these. My family loves bacon and this was a hit. I used spicy mustard but kept everything the same. I will absolutely be making these many times!!!

Taco Bake I

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
I certainly didn't have the problem that some others had with this being runny. On the contrary, mine was very thick. That's the only reason I held back a star. We had to use spoons to spoon it onto our tortilla chips because they broke when we tried to scoop with them. The flavor was good though and I will probably make this again.

Pineapple Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 9, 2006
Guess I'm in the minority here, but no one in my house would eat these. My 5 yr. old (who LOVES pork chops) wouldnt touch them. My hubby, who usually has something positive to say about every recipe I try, couldn't finish his. My mom, who loves not only pineapple and pork, but asian food as well asked me to please never make them again. Sorry to be so negative, but we this was neither sweet nor sour, just....wrong somehow.

Tuna Fish Salad

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
This is basically like my regular tuna salad recipe. I don't use parsley or paprika. I also add a little dill relish and some grated parmesan cheese. This two things alone will change the flavor drastically. I highly recommend trying.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
The taste of this recipe was really good, but unless my broiler is MUCH hotter than normal, the cooking time is impossible to achieve without filling the house with smoke. I ended up broiling for 10 minutes, then moving to the oven for about 10-15 minutes more. Maybe next time I will pound the chicken first or something. I will try again with less smoke...lol.

Broiled Lemon and Garlic Tiger Prawns

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
We loved this recipe. Made a smart move and didn't change a thing. The butterflying takes a little time, but it's well worth it in the end. Awesome!!!

Spinach and Mushroom Salad

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
I gave this four stars only because I made several changes for my families taste. I cut the sugar, vinegar, and water in half. We just prefer it that way. I left out the eggs and added minced garlic and red onion slices. Will definitely make again.

Stuffed Mushrooms with Spinach

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
These were pretty good...not my favorite stuffed mushrooms, but certainly up there with the best of them. Next time I will probably sprinkle a little more parmesan cheese on top before baking. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. Great recipe.

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
I printed this recipe and my 17 yr. old neice made them as her part of a "finger-foods dinner." We didn't have time to marinate in the buttermilk, so we just dipped them in it before breading. They still turned out awesome. I can't wait to make these again when we have time to allow for marinating!!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
I made a lot of changes and actually, the recipe might have gotten 5 stars if I hadn't. I made this with cheese tortellini, which was a mistake...I wouldn't recommend it. I also made a different dressing (the kind in a package). Those are the 2 changes I will not make again. What I did change that I liked was...added cubes of fresh mozzarella (the kind in water) and used pepperoncinis instead of bell pepper. Will try again with the original dressing and regular pasta.

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
We LOVED these. However, I did make a few changes. I left out the seasoned salt and garlic pepper. Added onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper. I also doubled the marinade amount and marinated overnight. I coated the veggies with oil, salt, and pepper before skewering. Then I cooked everything in my Showtime rotisserie. My family wasn't crazy about the tomatoes (but I think it was the tomatoes' fault) nor the pineapple. Next time, I will play around with the veggies I use. And there will definitely be a next time!

Chinese Noodle Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
We liked this recipe quite a bit. It wasn't awesome or anything, but I will make it again. I used ramen noodles and cooked them first before adding them to the stir fry. I also left out the carrot and added a can of baby corn. Added some garlic and extra teriyaki sauce. It's a keeper just for the simplicity and good (although not great) flavor.

Bacon and Cheddar Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2006
I gave this 3 stars because the first time I made it, the taste of miracle whip was totally overpowering. However, I made it again and used sour cream instead...the results were awesome. If you try this, DON'T use the M.W. unless you REALLY like that flavor. Try it with sour cream instead.
