Romanian Apple Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
This was excellent! I did make changes, but I think it just shows how adaptable this recipe is. I used brown sugar instead of white and decreased it to 1 cup. I did not have any vanilla, or nuts. I added 1/2 tsp nutmeg, and also substituted applesauce for oil (equal amounts). I am sure this is excellent as written, but I had to adapt because I didnt have certain items. It was sooo good. Cant wait to have it for breakfast with coffee :) Thanks for sharing!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
I gave this 4 stars because these taste great. Everything else was an epic failure. I made the mistake of following some of the suggestions that people made... like cutting down on the flour and making sure the butter was VERY soft. What I ended up with was a thin messy dough, and cookies that spread out WAY too thin. So I suggest... try following the recipe as is. I didnt and it was ugly.

Great recipe. Followed exactly and was pleasantly suprised. Kids didnt all like it but hubby did, and he hates zucchini and squash.

Peanut Butter Ice Cream Topping

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I only gave this 3 stars because I had to make a major adjustment... it was excellent AFTER I doubled the peanut butter. It was WAY too sweet and didnt taste much like PB when I followed the recipe. Do yourself a favor...either 1/2 the sugar, or double the PB.

Fried Rice I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
I made this for the second time tonite. Both times it was great, but I changed a couple things to make it a complete meal. I added strips of pepper steak to it at the end, and used frozen carrots and peas together. Also, instead of using bacon, I used Hormel real bacon bits (next to the fake bacon bits at the store). It made it really easy and I didnt have the bacon mess. Fabulous recipe!!! All 5 kids and hubby love it!

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
Easy, rich and delicious. The problem is, they really dont taste like truffles, they taste like fudge. They are a great chocolate fix though. My family loved them, but I was hoping for truffles. Save yourself alot of work..spread them in a pan and cut into squares.

Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2007
Made these last night and everyone loved them! I didnt follow the recipe exactly, but it didnt matter a bit. I left out the corn, added salsa to the meat too, didnt measure any of the spices... in a nut shell, this is a great recipe that can be easily adapted to fit your own tastes. OH, dont forget the sour cream!

Absolutely the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
These were delicious! We are still baking them, and the kids are raving about them. My 8 & 11 yr olds made them with little assistance. One slight change...we used 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter. Great recipe! Thanks!

Chocolate Zucchini Sheet Cake

Really liked this recipe, very moist... Kids loved it. Did not use frosting recipe for lack of evaporated milk, but did frost with a chocolate glaze. Definately will make this again.

Amish Yumazuti

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
This was a simple, quick dinner that *almost* all my kids enjoyed. My picky eater struggled her way through it, but everyone else liked it. I did exchange green peppers for the celery. Will make again, but will add more cheese, and probably more soup... didnt think it was anything like hamburger helper, though.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Great! These are a danger to any peanut butter loving choco-holic!! I did not have enough graham crackers to make 2 cups.. I used a little of everything to make up the difference.. pretzels, crackers and a couple different kinds of cereal! Turned out wonderful!

Raspberry Sour Cream Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
This was great! I dont usually like raspberry pie because of all the seeds. This recipe hides the crunchy seeds by adding a crunchy topping with nuts. I did use almonds instead of walnuts. A friend said it was the best pie she has ever had. We are trying it with blueberries, too.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
I was a little disappointed, but I think it was my fault. I tried to use this recipe to make normal size cookies... didn't come out well. They tasted great, but weren't chewy at all. Lesson learned.. I will try again, but will make them BIG like the recipe says.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2007
These were great. We had a friend over for dinner who had recently gotten out of the hospital and requested scalloped potatoes, which I had never made before. I followed the basic recipe, but added spices to the sauce before pouring over potatoes (garlic, season salt, italian seasoning, rosemary, etc). Everyone loved them. Also, I was short on time so I baked them at 400 for about a little over an hour.

Slow-Cooked Sweet 'n' Sour Pork

This was really good. I didn't have any peppers so I added a bag of frozen stir fry veggies about 2 hours before it was finished cooking. My whole family enjoyed it, including my picky ones! Thanks for the recipe :)

Mexican Shepherd's Pie

I made this for dinner last night and it was delicious! My entire family raved about it. I made a couple minor changes, most suggested by previous reviewers. I added black beans over the beef mixture, lots of cheese, and doubled the cornbread topping. Even my picky eaters loved it, and hubby couldn't get enough! Thank you, thank you for sharing!

Magic Peanut Butter Middles

These cookies are very good, but I'm a little afraid I will be asked to make them again! They are alot of work. Also, I doubled the batch and only got 48 cookies, but maybe mine were bigger than they were supposed to be. Great recipe if you have lots of time and energy.
