Sausage and Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
This was easy and very good. I added a small chopped onion and that's the only change I made. Everyone loved it, and there weren't any leftovers.

Orange Fluff I

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
My children love this because it's sweet. I love that I'm getting a little protein and calcium into them, via the cottage cheese.

Parrothead Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
A friend of mine brought this to a party last night, and it didn't last long. The entire group loved it, and she told us to come here and get the recipe. I bet I'm not the only one who did. The salad had so many unusual combinations that worked beautifully together! I did not put dressing on my first helping and it was delicious without it. I did put poppyseed dressing on my second helping, and wow. I am not a salad fan, but this one won me over!

Apple Betty

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
This was good, but I wish I had read the reviews before I made it, because the many tips about using brown sugar would have made it even better.

Honey Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
My husband and I really liked these. I left out the MSG, used fresh oregano, and minced fresh garlic which I added with the honey butter. I also used a whole onion since I didn't want to have leftover onion, but it was a small one. The sweetness of the onion, carrots, and honey was a nice contrast with the savory of the the other flavors. This recipe is a keeper and I will be using it again!

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
I am not a fan of rhubarb, but I got some with my CSA and had to find something to make with it. I am so glad I found this recipe because I didn't want to make pie. The texture of the oat topping was a welcome change from boring old pie crust, and such a nice compliment to the fruit layer. I made it exactly as written and it was great. Thank you Michelle!

Goat Cheese and Arugula over Penne

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
Very tasty and perfect for warm weather. The peppery bite of the arugula is perfectly contrasted with the smoothness of the goat cheese. Even my extremely picky 14 year old is having seconds. Next time I might add more tomatoes, just because she really likes them. I bet you could put some grilled chopped chicken in this with good results too. Thanks Christine for this recipe!

Squash with Tomato and Feta Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
I didn't have any stuffing mix, so I used fresh brench bread crumbs seasoned with sage and onion. It worked fine, and the dish turned out great. My husband and I love this one! Next time I might add a little more feta, just because we love the taste so much, but it was great with the amount stated.

Southwest Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2005
This was okay but nothing special. I used fresh chicken, real onion, and long grain rice instead of the canned/dried/instant which I think improved the flavor, but it was still bland and could have used some more seasonings.

Crab Quiche I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2005
I followed the advice of others and used four eggs and added some horseradish and Tabasco. This is really good! I'll print this one out and make it again. Makes a nice Friday meal with a Caesar salad and some french bread.

Blackberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2004
Tasty and healthy. I was surprised that it was so good without any dressing. I didn't think it needed any. I left out the nuts (daughter is allergic) and flowers. I'm not much of a salad person but I did like this one a lot.

Lazy Katie's Taco Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2003
This was pretty bland, but admittedly very easy. The second time I made it, I used half salsa and half ranch dressing (I used a lower fat version which was okay but full fat would have tasted much better) in place of the taco sauce. I also added taco seasoning mix to the ground beef to give it some flavor.

Feta Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2003
I hate when people alter a recipe and rate their version instead of the way the food should have been cooked, but now here I am doing the same thing. I used considerably less oil and left out the lemon juice (didn't have any). I still give this recipe 5 stars because it was so good. I'm sure it would have been even better if I had prepared it the way I was supposed to, but I loved it anyway. The oregano, feta, and bacon blend so perfectly with the chicken. This one is on my "make again" list!

Hot Jezebel

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2003
I'm a southerner living in the north where no one has ever had this. I served it at a party recently and it was a big hit with my unenlightened Yankee friends. I might add a little more horseradish to taste next time, although it was absolutely delicious as the recipe is written.

This was simple and easy. I loved it on rye but I think I'll try it on pumpernickel next time.

Carla's Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2003
This was a big hit with my friends. My husband ate it on a bologna sandwich and gave it two stars. I'm not making that up - I saw him do it. I'd recommend strawberries myself!

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2003
Tasty. I needed considerably more pretzels than the recipe called for though. The crust stuck too, so I'll spray the pan with non-stick spray first next time.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2003
This is so bland! The little bit of salt that the recipe calls for is not nearly enough seasoning. It needs garlic and pepper, and possibly paprika and oregano. I would also use about half the cabbage and twice the rice. If I make this again, it will be with so many alterations that it almost won't be the same recipe.

Reuben Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
My husband and I both loved this. I'll definitely make this one again. It was great as is, but next time I might use a couple of pieces more bread and maybe half the sauerkraut just to suit my own taste.
