About this Cook
Right now I am a full-time student (studying medical laboratory science) and a full-time lab associate in a hospital. I have very little time to spend cooking, but it is definitely something I love to do and I can't wait to have more free time after I graduate to do it! I am married to a great guy, and we have three cats and no kids.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy baking. Cakes are my favorite, but when I have more time I would really like to learn how to make bread. The only times I have actually used yeast for anything were for cinnamon rolls and pizza crust. They turned out really well, so I think I'm ready to move on!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make ENTIRELY too much food for holiday meals!! We generally have fewer than ten people to feed, yet we still go all out and everyone has a variety of leftovers that last many, many days!
My cooking triumphs
On a budget for our wedding, I had planned to bake and decorate my own wedding cake. I did lots of research, bought pans, a book and LOTS of ingredients in preparation for a trial run. After spending several afternoons baking the layers and the better part of that Sunday assembling and decorating, I was successful in creating a tasty, three-tiered monster of a cake! It was a great experience (and lots of fun), but after putting so much time into it I realized I wasn't going to have enough time, energy or patience when my big day rolled around to create this masterpiece again. Instead, we found a wonderful bakery less than a week before our wedding and I couldn't have been more pleased with the cake they made for us.
My cooking tragedies
Nothing too horrendous yet! Fingers crossed!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
So simple, yet incredibly tasty! My husband and I like Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce. I cooked it on low for about 8 hours and it was perfect. This turned out great!
