Cooking is just like everything else I've done as a teenager - the first in my group of friends to drive a car, own my own house, get accepted into college, get a job... But I didn't used to be the designated cook, not until I discovered I have a severe allergy to pepper! On top of this grave situation, I am now a freshman in college, an hour away from home, and I have my own kitchen. So I decided a year and a half ago, why not give cooking a try? I'm addicted to it now; I love to cook!
My favorite things to cook
grilled venison, omelets, meatloaf, country style soups and stews, stir fry, oriental platters, salmon, crab, shrimp, pastas
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a few stereotypical traditions: toss a spoonful of bacon grease into vegetables, deep fry a fresh catch of fish, barbeque some maple-marinated venison on Independence Day, douse everything in butter, everything's home-style country... I'm the only "fancy" cook in my family.
My cooking triumphs
I have dominated my pepper allergy with a careful selection of herbs - basil, parsley, chives, garlic, and oregano!
