Turkey Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2001
This soup is great! We used it with our Thanksgiving leftovers... we added in some carrots and corn to give it a little color. It was fabulous!

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
This recipe uses the right amounts of each seasoning. It's a great recipe as-is, and you can easily tweak it to suit your own taste. After reading the reviews here, I opted to use buttermilk instead of the sour cream to make it a little thinner. There was a little something off or missing in the overall flavor, so I also added a few squeezes of lemon juice to brighten it up. Perfect!

Crispy Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Dill Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2012
A good recipe, but not as tangy or flavorful as I would have liked. It turned out a little bland. Overall, a tasty dish that could use a little tweaking.

Pork Chop Veggie Medley

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
Wow! This is one of the best and easiest recipes for pork chops I've ever made. The pork turned out tender, and the veggies were a delicious treat. I left out the water because I felt that there was enough water in the diced tomatoes. I also added a tiny bit of flour to the chops before sauteeing them. This recipe is a keeper, for sure.

Golden Egg Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
Very good, but not at all "golden" in color. Looked and tasted like regular white bread.

All Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
Absolutely perfect! I followed the recipe exactly. I used two different types of apples (some tart green apples and some red delicious). After peeling and coring them, I ran them through the food processor so that they were very finely chopped. I stirred the mixture at least once per hour and didn't have a problem with anything burning in the crockpot. When it was almost finished, I used an immersion blender to blend everything for a nice, smooth texture. I found that the very last step where you leave the lid off the crockpot and let the mixture cook down required a much longer time than given. I let it go for at least three hours and it could have maybe gone a little longer. I poured the mixture into sterile jars and canned them in the pressure canner for about 10 minutes (same as for applesauce). The end result was a smooth, kind of thick texture and a stunning deep red color (not like the "peanut butter" color in the main picture on the recipe page). It has been delicious on homemade scones. One thing I noticed is that the scent and the taste were a little different from each other. When I tasted it, it didn't taste exactly like I expected based on the smell. Still absolutely delicious and very, very easy. This one is a keeper!

Quinoa Side Dish

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2011
My first time making quinoa. WOW! This one is a keeper! I used chicken broth instead of veg broth and olive oil instead of butter. Delicious.

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
I mostly followed the recipe, except that I used day-old french bread cut into large chunks and I let the whole thing refrigerate overnight. Overall, we were very pleased with the flavor of the dish, but I think I will be making some changes the next time around. It was much too mushy for our tastes, even with the stale bread soaking up the egg mixture overnight. Next time I will cut the milk by at least half a cup and maybe get rid of an egg, and I think that will fix everything. I totally recommend this recipe with those changes! The chunky french bread was awesome, and I can't imagine it with regular sandwich bread.

Beef and Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
I'm giving this recipe 4 stars on account of its easiness and taste. The sauce was very thick and hearty. I followed the recipe except... 1. I used whole-wheat rotini pasta (it was all I had) 2. I heated the sauce and melted the Velveeta into it. I was a little worried about big chunks of Velveeta, which probably wouldn't taste good. 3. I added some garlic and onion to the beef as it was browning. 4. I mixed all the components together and baked in an 8x8 pan (instead of layering it in a larger pan). Next time I might try ground turkey and adding some veggies.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
I made no changes to this recipe, and they turned out just okay. They were way too gooey in the middle (seemed undercooked to me) even though the edges were completely done. The flavor was a little off, as well. Too buttery, maybe? Next time I'll cut the butter and sugar, and spread in a thinner layer.

Velveeta® Cheesy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2003
This was excellent! Like some of the other reviewers, I also added some spices like onion powder and garlic, along with a little extra pepper. One thing I will change for next time is that I will use less Velveeta. It was a little too cheesy (though not watery at all), so I plan to cut the cheese by a third or even a full half.

Crazy Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
My mom makes a version of this cake. I love it because I almost always have all the ingredients on hand. I mixed the dry ingredients together, then added all the liquids and mixed. Then I poured it into a greased pan. I baked it for a little longer than the recipe suggests, maybe an extra 10 or 15 minutes. It turned out chocolatey and substantial--not airy. Next time I'll cut the sugar, maybe as much as by half. Very, very good recipe!

Puppy Chow II

Excellent! You'll need a lot more powdered sugar, though. After rolling the mixture in powdered sugar, I spread it out in a single layer onto a piece of wax paper to let it 'dry out'... Delicious!
