Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2013
I am a traditionalist, I guess and although this soup was okay first time around. Left the tarragon, cilantro out and added flat leaf parsley. I roasted the garlic since I like the mellow flavor imparted by the roasting. Added a few red pepper flakes - only enough for flavor, left the skin on the potatoes and followed another users idea to use fat free 1/2 and 1/2 but only. Mashed some of the potatoes (not all just some) rather than puree and still got the natural thickening from them. Didn't use the flour for thickenening as we have people with gluten allergies. Came out wonderful. Only boiled for awhile at the beginning to cook the potatoes. After that, because I used no flour, I only used medium setting heat.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
I saw the note about this recipe being too sweet. I agree. However, instead of cutting back on the sugar, I cut out the raisins (actually didn't have any the first time I made this). Once it was totally cooled, I sliced strawberries on top. The tartness of the strawberries cut the sweetness of the pudding. Tasted great! Saw the note about the clumping eggs. Temper the eggs with the warm rice mixture before adding the eggs entirely into the pudding. Thanks!

Make-Ahead Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2012
I followed others' lead and added the parmesan, italian seasoning and a little bit of extra basil. I tried baking before freezing. But tried making the meatballs, freezing raw and then adding them frozen to homemade spaghetti sauce and let simmer 30" or longer. The beef was good quality and the flavor that these meatballs imparted to the sauce was outstanding. Thanks. This recipe was a great starting point for me.

Krautburger

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
I was raised in Colorado, lived in a community with a good-sized German population and ate krautburgers at least once a week. I made this recipe, my family tried it and asked that I return to my mother's recipe even though it does take a little longer. We add shredded carrots, leave out the cheese and leave a little "crunch" when cooking the cabbage. Won't use this recipe again.

Pork Chop Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
I love this recipe! I did add garlic as did island girl. I didn't have soy so put worchestershire in. I will add that, because I take my lunch to work, I froze this in small batches. No change to the quality and everyone in the cafeteria loved the fragrance!! Thank you!

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
This is a great base recipe. I changed the vegetable prep. I roasted every including a clove of garlic. I omitted the celery and used, as one person suggested, a sweet potato and a while potato. At the very end, I put the soup back into a pan after the blender and chopped about four medium sized baby bella mushrooms to heat through with the soup. The soup was great without them but I enjoyed it with the mushrooms, as well. Thanks!
