Loosing "Half of Myself," without loosing my mind!

Research, study, and more research

As I said...I am researching the topic of Ayurvedic cooking...and researching, and studying, and researching some more.  The concepts are very interesting...and the ideas are very tempting...but I still need to gain more insight to maintain this program.  I am probably going to have to talk to a specialist.  They did feature a consulting health professional on the local news a couple of days ago; so that will be my next step.

Eat, Taste, Heal presents you with a lot of information.  And then, gives you a plethora of recipes...but again and again it presents that you need to know your "dosha" type to fully experience of this cooking.  I look forward to a better understanding.

I will say that I am more active now than I have been...the desire to be "out and about" in this warm weather is high.  Between the Nike Fuel Band that I continuously wear, and the journalling to watch how I am doing...I feel so under control as far as my appetite goes...many days, I am just not hungry and just want to keep moving.

Just went out and bought some hiking pants...I attached a latest photo.  Honestly, I have not been this size since early high school (size 10)...I still don't comprehend my size and body shape.  I actually have to bring people with me and try on clothes like a little kid.  It's still mind boggling what has happened...and yes, I do know that I am 53...and not 20...and things will not be perfect...(wow, is that an understatement)...but I have never felt more self confident.

I have even begun working with colleagues who are going to my team of professionals...it's wonderful to all these people happy with themselves!!  Beside being a wonderful group of supporting professionals...it is great to see them modeling healthy change for our students.

Rock on WSMS staff!!!

Is this the diet that is geared to your body type?

Yes...It is a extremely old form of cooking based on your body type/functioning...Dr. Oz is a show on it a couple of months ago.

About Me
Baking is so therapeutic...with 2 science degrees and 2 education degrees...my favorite place is baking (and tasting) in my kitchen. Just created a blog on this site: Loosing "Half of Myself"...without loosing my mind.
My favorite things to cook
If I have to cook...it's with a slow cooker...so far, (knocking on wood) it hasn't failed me yet! I am now working to get healthy...I have lost 150 pounds so far...and this is encouraging me to cook, and cook healthy. I have been recently very successful with Shirataki Noodles, Artichokes Hearts and oven roasted veggies...low in calories and very healthy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Eve...a seafood extravaganza
My cooking triumphs
Creating the "carrot cake" from my youth...and figuring out my Polish Grandmother's Christmas cookie recipe that uses her irons...and they older than dirt
My cooking tragedies
I try to cook healthy...so to keep loosing weight. I found this recipe for a "healthy" eggplant parmesan...it took me all day to prepare...and was so not worth the time and effort...and it tasted worse than dirt. There are just some things that should not be changed.
