I liked this recipe however, I made the mistake of not making a lattice crust and still pouring the syrup ontop of the pie. It resulted in a sort of candied crust that was still good but, I prefer to have the apples coated in the sweetness rather than the crust. I'd reccomend, if you don't know how or don't want to make a lattice crust, to just pour the sugary mixture ontop of the apples and not the crust. Also, I added 1 tsp of cinnamon, a bit of nutmeg, and vanilla to the sugary mixture. It turned out really good nonetheless and for the first time, the apples were so soft that my fork broke them on command. loved it and thanks!
