Asparagus and Mozzarella Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 5, 2014
Cook at 350 for 45 minutes, chicken is perfect. Lower temp keeps it from drying out.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
Made this is the crockpot using what I had around the house so did not use carrots, celery, zucchini or curry powder. Since my husband simply can't eat anything vegetarian I added some diced Hungarian bacon and used about a cup of beef broth mixed with Italian herbs that I had leftover from making Italian beef sandwiches. I added another cup of broth later but that's all the liquid I used.

Slow Cooker Creamy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
I made a reduced amount of serving but skipped the evaporated milk completely and just used regular milk instead. I substituted the bacon with Hungarian bacon, a very smoky bacon that I find in Italian grocery stores. I caramelized sweet onion in a small crock pot. I added some dried chives for color and also some ramps but green onion would work. Going to try making bread bowls tomorrow to serve my leftovers in.

Beef Tips

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
Mostly followed the directions but ommitted salt and used beef broth instead of water per reviews. Added a little cooking Sherry. Simmered for about an hour. Maybe I should have used the salt per the original recipe as this was just bland and I tend to buy low sodium items. I used Omaha Steaks sirloin tips so it wasn't the quality of the meat. Probably won't make again. I'm used to getting "wows" and "yums" at dinner time.

Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
I didn't add the potatoes, onion or carrots and we absolutely loved this recipe. I used the mushroom onion soup mix and just added a sprinkle of cayenne and parsley to give it a bit of color. Served with instant garlic mashed potatoes. Hubby said to write this one down ASAP.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
Simple and tasty. I baked the potatoes the day before and they turned out great. I did mix some of the bacon in with the potatoes and topped with the rest.

Cream Cheese Corn Bake

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
Easy enough to make but not spectacular. I also added 3 strips of bacon per other reviews as well as cayenne, swapped jalapeno for green chilis. Topped with sharp cheddar at the end of baking. I think adding some sauteed onion and peppers would help or using a can of corn and peppers.

Cousin David's Slow Cooker Brisket

Reviewed: May 9, 2012
Simple but bland. I've never used chili sauce before so I was curious. Strong vinegar smell and the sauce was somewhat sweet. Just not our cup of tea I guess. I'm glad I got my brisket on clearance. I recently made the "Oh So Tender Brisket" recipe from this site and also very simple but it was fabulous. Sorry Cousin David not for us!

Oh So Tender Brisket

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
This was wonderful. I had never made a brisket before and it was kind of expensive so I didn't want to dump ketchup or canned soup over it. I used "beefy" onion soup mix and hickory liquid smoke. I did add one cup of beef broth and just a teaspoon of brown sugar. Put it all in the slow cooker and made a simple gravy with the cooking liquid. My husband thought it was one of my best meals yet. So simple and fabulous.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I used this amount of seasoning for one 6 lbs. chicken. Left out white pepper and did not put any of the rub inside. After 3 hours at 250 I did increase temperature to 350 to make sure it was done on time and the chicken was cooked in another 30 minutes. This was easy to prepare and had a very nice flavor. My husband hates thyme but he liked it in this mixture. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Round Steak Sauerbraten

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
Perfect in the crockpot, I did add a splash of balsamic vinegar and extra worcestershire sauce, full tsp. of ginger per some of the prior reviews. Didn't bother browning the meat before putting in crockpot and it was still wonderful. Now on my favorite recipes list!

Turkey Soup with Dressing Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
I made a half portion of this and it was excellent. I did not even brown the turkey bones, just made a stock the day before. Made my own poultry seasoning blend from a recipe here. I didn't have peas, turnips or green beans and it was still wonderful. I did not add the cranberry either. This was a great way to use turkey day leftovers and the dumplings held up sitting in the soup in the fridge for 2 days! Excellent! A new favorite in our house.

Bob's Slow Cooker Braciole

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
I cut the recipe in half since it's something I've never tried before. I had some round steak sliced sandwich thin so I ended up making 4 small rolls. I had applewood smoked bacon which gave it a nice sweetness. I used a parm and romano marinara sauce and added a dash of an italian seasoning blend plus some minced dried garlic. Very nice. I ran short on time so I cooked on high for 2 hours and mine were cooked but after eating one let the rest sit for another 2 hours on low. I have a newer slow cooker that typically cooks in half the time the recipes indicate.
