Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
I wish I had read the other reviews before making this. I followed the recipe as stated, except used ground ginger and garlic powder. I agree with another reviewer....I was surprized that it got such high ratings. The sauce was very thin and the hot sauce over-powered everything. When I re-read the reviews, I realized the other reviewers altered their recipes so completely that they were not even close to the original recipe, IE: flouring the chicken before cooking, adjusting the measurements of the ingredients, etc. If one of those reviewers posted their recipe, I might try it again.

Citrus Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2005
I can understand why this recipe got 5 stars! This was my first cheesecake and I made 2 mistakes. 1. I need to practice more on making the crust, and 2. I could not wait the overnight refrigeration! Nontheless, this cake was wonderful. The glaze turned out perfect! This cheesecake recipe is definately a keeper! I will be more patient the next time I make it so that it will set up better. An absolute elegant dessert!

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2005
Moist and not too sweet! I was concerned because I could not find unsweetened coconut and used sweetened instead. Just like another reviewer, I am a stickler for following a recipe to the letter the first time. The only other change I had to make was in the baking time. My muffins took 30 minutes instead of 20. All in all, these are excellent, moist, delicious muffins! Oh, and by the way, the food processor does come in handy in the prep work. I will definately make these again!

Pecan Dijon Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2005
The sauce for this recipe definately deserves 5 stars. The reason why I am going with 4 is that the cook time for the chicken seems a little short unless you pound the chicken breasts thin. I added more time to my cook time. In addition, next time I think I will try the cornstarch to thicken the sauce, I just don't want to change the taste of the sauce, it is excellent with chicken and rice. I also enjoy the flavor of the pecans! Thanks for a good recipe Brian!

Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2005
This is a pretty cake. I did find the lemon curd and lemon frosting way too tart, which surprised me because I do like lemon. The cake itself was not bad.

Orange Spiced Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
I have to agree with another member that the amts for the orange juice and soy sauce was switched. Next time I will use 1/2 cup orange juice and 1/4 cup soy sauce. I love soy sauce, so even this first time wasn't bad. I enjoyed the raisins in the marinade too! I served this with rice and chinese veggies. Very good and easy recipe!

Sweet Green Bean Bundles

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2004
I tried this side dish for Thanksgiving and it was just not to my taste. The presentation was pretty and I would have to agree with other raters that using fresh green beans would probably work better than the canned. I did not use the amount of green beans and bacon called for in the recipe, so that could have made a difference also.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2004
This is a very cheesy macaroni and cheese! The Velveeta gives it just enough smoothness. The last time I made this, I used the jumbo elbow macaroni and it turned out excellent!

Cinnamon Snails

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2004
This is a cake-like cookie. They have a good flavor, but the dough is not as stiff as the recipe indicates. I had to use quite a bit of flour on my hands and board to form the snails. also chill the dough. The mini-chocolate chips reminded me more of a snail's antenna than eyes.....very cute!!

Granny's Swiss Steak

This Recipe is a keeper, it is simple to make and the flavor is good. I also like all the veggies in it. Next time, I might try mixing the onion soup mix with the tomato juice and ketchup.

Blueberry Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2004
This is a very good blueberry pie recipe. It was a little hard blending the egg yolks and sugar, especially with just a hand electric mixer, but well worth the work. I will bake this pie again!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Absolutely delicious! The only thing I might would do differently is pound the chicken breasts a little thinner to make sure they cooked through. Had to use cream cheese with chives and onion, could not find just chives. would I make this recipe again?? Most Definately!

Red Velvet Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2004
I made this cake for my honey for Valentine's day. He loved it! I am kindof wondering about the amount of red food coloring though. If I figured it right, 2ounces works out to 4 tablespoons. I only had 1 1/2 tblsps. and the cake was plenty red enough! All in all a good cake!

Beef, Bean and Barley Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
This recipe is very good! I was concerned that the stew beef would be tough, but it wasn't. About the only thing I would change is to add more stew beef to it. Otherwise It has an excellent flavor!

Southern Style Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2003
I have to agree with JIMKAMOM. The lemon did give the broth a funny flavor. In addition, I prefer the bread type of dumplings over the flat dough type. It is not bad though, just not to my taste. Phoenix.

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2003
Try this recipe with skinless chicken breasts! It is excellent! You can use either bone in or boneless. Another version I am temped to try is to precook my chicken, marinate it with the sauce and then cook it on the grill, bet it would be wonderful! Phoenix.
