About this Cook
I'm a married middle-aged lady who is disabled but still loves to cook. I like to sew and do all sorts of crafts and I love animals, especially dogs. I am originally an Air Force brat and have done alot of traveling in my youth and am hoping to go see the ocean and do some traveling again before long. I love to fish and go boating too. I have two grown children, a girl and a boy, a great husband and a new puppy who keeps me busy.
My favorite things to cook
One of my favorite things to cook is oriental cooking, Chinese, Japanese,Korean etc. I particularly love their use of fresh vegetables and smaller amounts of meat and the way things are cooked quickly retaining the most flavor and nutrients. I love to do deserts too and recently have been experimenting alot of sugar free recipies as my husband and I are both diabetic. I like to cook just about anything though.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I guess my favorite family cooking tradition would be having family get-together meals. We like to have Shrimp-boil dinners and bbqs and big holiday dinners. We don't do that as much anymore and I do miss that tradition.
My cooking triumphs
My specialty triumphs would have to be my gumbos and my crab salad on criossants and my crab dip. My family would probably say it would be my chicken dishes, they really go for the Cordon-Bleu and the Rolled and stuffed chicken breasts.
My cooking tragedies
The only real tradgedie was when I was 16, I tried to make a casserole from the back of the Bisquick box and I swear it weighed 10 lbs! I was soo proud of myself this being the first creation I had attempted new on my very own! But, alas, no one could eat it, it was sooo terrible, even our dogs wouldn't eat it! I vowed that very day to become a good cook and everyone that knows me agrees that I have certainly accomplished that.

Root Beer Float Cake I
My husband and I are diabetics who are always searching for desserts that are lower in sugars, but that taste good and this one is definately a keeper! I subsituted the regular rootbeer with a good name brand diet one and used a sugar subsitute in the glaze part. This lowered the sugar and didn't hurt the taste in any way. This has been one of the best recipes we've tried! Thanks to Karin for passing it along.

Autumn Apple Salad II
This was the best apple salad ever! It's easy and sooo delicious! I used dried cranberries and cherry-vanilla yogurt-fantastic! It's a regular at our house now.I've also tried adding pineapple chunks and used 1/2 apples and 1/2 pears too-relly good also.

Pan Cream Puff
Very good and easy. Tasted just like mom used to make,so it was not only delicious but brought back some good memories. I used sugar-free pudding to cut down on some of the sugar but it was still great! Another one that's a definate keeper!
