Deep-fried single Southern Mama of one, with a global outlook. I love replicating the flavours of food from my travels. Curious, love learning new things-including recipes. We are fortunate to live in the age of information sharing!
My favorite things to cook
Southern, Tex-Mex, Indian, Mexican, Asian, British, cookies, cupcakes,Cajun, Creole, Caribbean, Italian-but all natural, unbleached, unprocessed, and homemade, with fresh ingredients.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a Southern and country background- so my memories are of going to my grandparents farms and watching my grandmas prepare food from the ground up...literally. They smoked their own meats from the animals they reared, prepared fresh vegetables that were grown in their gardens, and canned veggies, fruits, and pickles. I learned the best way to prepare good food was to put genuine effort and love into the preparation.
My cooking triumphs
I can bake anything, and come up with insanely delicious and unique flavours for cookies and cupcakes. Also, thanks to my late grandma, my bread and butter pickles are becoming known in my circles. People have asked to purchase them!!
My cooking tragedies
Gnocchi....spent all day making those dumplings& they turned into a gluey mess. Also, I am not a fan of frying....can we say "grease fire"?
