Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
This is a very good basic quiche recipe. It is flexible to add your own ingredients. I made this twice before I submitted my review. My family doesn't like feta...no problem....just use whatever you like. Each time I varied the recipe due to taste and what I had on hand.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
Very good recipe as written. I was looking for something to match our Harris Teeter brand. My rasins soaked for 10 mins in hot water to soften up. I had to use allspice because I only had whole cloves...still very good. The next time I will add toasted walnuts, more spices, and have my cloves on hand.

Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork Shoulder

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
The pork shoulder was tender, but for my family the vinegar was too strong for our taste. I dont know what I can use instead of the vinegar, because the dry spices where a very nice flavor. I even poured off more than 1/2 of the vinegar after the marinated time to reduce the vinegar taste. I will not be in a hurry to make this again....the pork is still in the refrig, but as for a tender pork shoulder this recipe did deliver, but a little off on taste.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Pretty good recipe, I added a family size can of cream of mushroom soup, and followed one person advice by adding 1/2 of the cheese to the mixture.

Deviled Eggs II

I used the suggestions of the other members and added the onion powder and increased the mayo. I also added sweet salad cubes. 4 stars because it is a good basic recipe

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Very good basic recipe...my family like it to be a little sweeter. It was fine for me, and I added some toasted chopped pecans. I will make again.

Party Punch IX

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
I did not enjoy this punch nor did my family. It stayed in the refrig until I threw it away. I enjoyed the slushy affect, but the gelatin mix was too heavy, I guess.... I will not make it again.

Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
Raspberry is not a fav of mine, but I do like it as a dressing for my salad. I was not sure about the ingredients but I am so glad I made this tonight for my spinach salad. The flavor was great. I used less sugar, next time I will use less oil. A little oily for my taste. I also brought some raspberry jam, incase the vinegar was not strong enough. The original recipe was so good, I did not want to add the jam, but if not it would have just sat in the pantry. With the addition of the jam, I got the thickness and color of a local restaurant dressing. In this case less sugar made the difference with the addition of the jam. Next time I will use this recipe with the following modifications, less sugar and less oil.

Dawn's Candied Walnuts

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
The coating adhere to the nuts very well. Taste like a store brand. I have tried candied nuts recipe before, but this is the best. Because of past poor results, I almost did not try this one. These will be a great addition to my spinach salad.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
I made this bread in a hurry with my first zucchini harvest....very easy to make, my family loved it. I already have requests to make it again for the weekend. My changes: toasted walnuts in butter before adding them, I also followed one viewer suggestion to add zucchini to mixture and blend together instead of folding it in...and next time I will use just a little less sugar maybe 2 cups instead of 2 1/4 cups. All in all it was very good.

Instant Russian Tea

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2001
This was a great recipe for spiced tea...I made some changes...I used instant lemon flavor tea mix, omitted the allspice (I did not have any on hand), and increased the serving size to 6qts. to fit my jar.
