Egg Drop Soup II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
Just adding a side note, the crunchy things that they give you at restaurants to put in this soup are fried wontons. You can buy them at the grocery store and just cut them into strips and deep fry them or bake them in a pan with cooking spray at 350 for 20 min. You can always of course make your own wonton dough from scratch: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/wonton-wrappers/

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
Fantastic!!! I subbed the oil for applesauce and used 1c white sugar and 1/4th brown sugar and no nuts. I put the grated zucchini in a strainer but did not squeeze because I live in Colorado and the high altitude dries things out up here. This came out moist and oooh soo good! It does make 2 small loafs like others noted so I took half a loaf to my friend's and a full loaf to my neighbors for a birthday party and got nothing but raves and people begging me to make some for them too. This is now my forever recipe for this yummy bread. Ps...I like to put a dab of butter on a slice and warm it up in the microwave for a few seconds. It's truly heaven in your mouth ;)

Mom's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2013
So easy and so good! I had to sub some Jiffy Mix for flour as I ran out and it still came out amazingly good! I'm more of a cook then a baker so measuring things is not really my forte but even with my little miscalculations this crust came out soo wonderfully delicious for my spinach quiche :)

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2013
Messy prep but sooo worth it! I used chicken and the chicken mcnugget princess said she loved it and wants this for now on instead of nuggets. That speaks volumes as to how awesome this recipe is! Our new favorite for sure! Thank you for sharing this one :)

This recipe is spot on! Tastes like KFC's. I add pepper to mine and also use white vinegar instead of the cider. DELISH!!!

Sushi Roll

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2013
I'm in HEAVEN!!! Amazing and super simple! Never made these before so I wasn't very good using the bamboo mat. It was easier to roll with my fingers but I only spent a dollar for the mat on Ebay so if you have to have a mat, look there. In addition; I pushed my rice down tight onto the nori with the back of the rice spoon and I think that made it easier to roll. Also, if you use imitation crab meat, get the long pieces. You can unroll them and put them on the rice then put the other goodies on that and roll it all together. Makes for a nice presentation when you cut it too. I didn't bother with making the sauce as I prefer to just put pickled ginger, wasabi and soy on my sushi so that saved some time. If I were to have went to the grocery store(mine has pre-made sushi)and bought the equivalent to what I made I would have easily spent over $50.00! All I had to buy to make about 50 pieces was a cucumber, nori, small bag of rice, an avocado, small bag of carrots, a block of cream cheese and a $2.50 bag of imitation crab meat. (I don't follow recipes so I used more then 4 sheets of nori etc.)

Homemade Pickled Ginger (Gari)

This came out amazing! I used a potato peeler to slice as thinly as I could and I added a drop of red food coloring for the pink effect. Super easy and super tasty!

Old Fashioned Hard Candy

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2013
I used to make this when I was a kid and sell it on the school bus. Lost the recipe years ago and was very thrilled to find it here again. I made this for Christmas, Red-Cinnamon and Green-Peppermint and gave them out for gifts. The only thing I did differently was I poured them out on a cookie sheet and cut into squares just before hardening and didn't use as much powdered sugar. Thanks for sharing this! :)

I had over half of the noodles left over and like others have said, needs more sauce. It tasted excellent though and was really easy to make!

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Super easy and super delicious! I put mixed shredded cheese on a hoagie and melted it before adding the shredded beef. Not only did it add an extra oomph of flavor but it also helped hold the meat in. Next time I will add some sauteed onions too :)

Tasty Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
Amazing flavor even before putting it in the oven! Everyone absolutely loved this dish! I didn't have any wine so that was omitted and frankly, I don't think it could have tasted any better with it. I added extra bacon because really, Who doesn't? Also these were great heated up and eaten the next day. This recipe will be forever in my favs box. Thank you so much for the share :)

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
I made this last year for Thanksgiving and will make it again this year and every every year! This is by far one of the best recipes for Pumpkin Pie ever! I think the use of the sweetened condensed milk is KEY for this pie. I also add extra cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger to taste.

Cheesy Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
Fantastic! This was my first ever attempt at making lasagna and it was super easy and very delicious! I'm not one to follow exact recipes and changed it up a bit by using bacon bits, a whole container of cottage cheese and added mozzarella and cheddar in addition to the original ingredients. I mixed it all together with 2 12oz. bags of cooked spinach. Next I did my build different by doing a layer of noodles followed by a layer of the mixture and repeated until the last layer, then I just topped that with swiss and fresh parmesan. Everyone loved it, even the 6yr old!

Goulash Supreme

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
This was a really simple recipe and came out very delicious. I did change it up a bit in order to work with what I had in the kitchen. I used 2 cans of diced tomatoes and half a can of left over spaghetti sauce in place of the stewed tomatoes and tomato paste. I also cooked my macaroni noodles first, drained them, added them back to the pot and then put in the remainder of the ingredients. Cooking time took about 15 to 20 minutes. :)

Scottley's Basic Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
my first from scratch cake and it came out fantastic! Great flavor, very easy and not a lot of complex ingredients. Had to bake an additional 15 min. but that may be due to the altitude where I live. Highly recommend this recipe and will be using this one again! :)
